  DF'd and struggling....LONG POST........my story.

  how do i make a long story short?

  i am fully aware that if anyone in my area were to read this that they will know who i am.

  i was disfellowshipped on january 28th 2010 after an "interview" about an evening of bowling with friends and family back in november 2009. i was among 4 who were disfellowshipped and 6 who were publicly reproved.

  Two thoughts about your situation.

  1. I dont agree that you would have walked out of there fine if you would have stopped talking after you said you had 1 drink an hour for 7 hours. They were going to DF you, REGARDLESS. you know why? cause it was at your house, and you are one of the people that they HAD to make an EXAMPLE of to inflict fear into the rest of the flock. So dont kick yourself over that, because no matter what you said, you were going to be DF'd. Being DF'd for what you said and did, is an absolute outrage. However, based on what I and others here know about how the watchtower works, its not an outrage, because elders can DF a person for any reason they want.

  2. You thought that this was hard and you dont want your kids to go through something like that? Read the stories on here about how judicial comitees are for sexual matters, or for children who are molested. They are 1,000,000,000 times worse. And you are right in your gut feeling of not wanting to expose your children to something like that if they make a mistake. And they are kids, and will make mistakes. Thats normal.

  I encourage you to research the watchtower to see for yourself if you want to go back to it. I wish you well in your search.

  good video, good subject. these kinds of policies make people paranoid, and when i was in i felt like i had no shot to not be blood guilty. its a horrible teaching. i like seeing more and more people making videos and speaking out, more power to you.

  Has anyone successfully faded without moving out of the territory?

  just wondering if they'll eventually give up in a couple years.

  Banking Nightmare

  i had a horrible experience with bank of america yesterday.

  i needed to deposit cash in my checking account in order to cover a check i had written to cover my mortgage.

  bank of america has decided to close many of their full service banks and replace them with new fangled atm machines.

  One of my life philosphies is "fuck putting cash in atm's". but i understand why the OP would do it since bank of america talks shit about their new service and how great it is. 95% sucuess rate doesnt cut it for me when we are dealing with cash. banks are such assholes.

  in my anger as an ex witness about 4 years ago i really wished that this would happen.

  although the glaring errors, hypocrisy & downright badness of the wts was finally evident to me personally, others whom i had expeced to eventually leave the org have not.. i think it dawned on me around 1 or 2 years ago that my wife will never leave the witnesses.

  having presented in both heated & reasonable debate every kind of logical argument against the religions teachings the conversations would get to the point where she would simply refuse to answer my questions.

  i dont think they will end completly, i believe they are sitting on 1 billion in real estate. however they will not exist as we knew it, and it will be alot smaller. the wts is in trouble in its current state, and they will continue to downsize. but in 10-15 years it will not be reconizable. imo

  some posters here still attend jehovah's witness meetings.

  my challenge to you is..... next time you see a parent beating a human child in public at the kingdom hall, when there are two witnesses - you and one other - call 911 or the police, and report the parent by name, for child abuse..

  i was given "spankings" as a child. i have a kid now and would never spank them unless they did something absolutly agregious. spakings never did anything but hurt me and piss me off. to each his own, but i dont see any need to spank defensless children. there are other more civil and effective means. and Jesus Christ, talk about the beatings I saw at the kingdom hall. my god, some jw parents are fucking barbaric with their kids. absoulte child abuse going on in kingdom halls all over the world.

  When you realized that it was all a lie.. how did you cope?

  i realized about a year ago after much lurking here, that the truth was in fact a lie.

  it rocked me to my core to come to the understanding that everything that i have been taught, believed in and taught people myself was in fact not true.

  when you are a born in like myself, the teachings of the wts become all you know.

  I think alot of people in this world are captives to cults or cult like thinking. i think we are lucky to be able to wake up and now be able to see who is bullshitting us. i have become very good at identifying logical fallacies and so when i see people outside of the JW's try to use them, I can pick them off. While its true our "belief rugs" have been pulled out from under us, we are in the lucky position to start over and know all the tricks that cults use.

  Baby(ies) Died From Heat At Convention?

  i recall reading from one source how babies were overcome by the heat at a jw convention, with at least one death.. if i'm not mistaken, this was in houston, texas, at the astrodome.. the story goes that doctors at the convention wanted an advisory about the heat read from the platform, but convention officials refused, stating that only wt related material was to be read.. it was stated that the doctors became so upset at this that they quit the wt on the spot!.

  has anyone else heard or read that story?.

  I believe Dr. Jerry Bergman is the one that told that story as a first hand account. He is pretty well respect, I think. Forget where I heard it, might have been a youtube video with him in it? Or it might have been on one of the six screens of the watchtower conference calls where Rick played audio of Dr. Bergman speaking. not sure.

  they are so simple, so ignorant, it's embarrassing!.

  when apologists come here and attempt to spar with the enlightened ones on the board, the witnesses really look dumb.. their self righteous arrogance coupled with their stupefying ignorance makes me feel pretty pretty good about myself!.
