J-Dub Gossip: How Do/Did You Handle It?

perhaps the biggest fear i have of leaving is the ensuing gossip that will follow.

i know it's stupid to worry about what will be said about me once i'm "out," but it kills me inside.

of course, that doesn't mean that i don't already deal with my fair share of gossip as it is while still "in.

when i first left i thought about the gossip, but once i discovered that its a cult, i stopped caring, and felt pity on them. they are victims, stuck in a cult that is destroying their lives and families. i pity them, and do not care what they think of me, they have zero effect on my life and are part of the past.

Is anyone here doing April's 30 hour Auxillary Pioneer Special ?

i know there are many active jw's here and was just wondering if anyone is going to take advantage of april's special of only 30 hours for the month.. i actually might, just to irk some of the elders that can't figure me out in their minds.. it would involve 2 long days ... that's it.

even i can go out in fs in the morning with the group and hang out at bus stops and train stations the rest of the day.. i am really tempted.. rub a dub.

just in from bethel made me LOL choke on my coffee with this:

its all about context. the Bible, inspired or not had writers that believed and taught certain things, just like the Koran. I'd take issue with a person who claims that Koran doesnt teach Muhamad was a prophet, just like I'd take issue with a person who claims the wirters of the NT didnt believe Jesus was God.

Does it mean Jesus actually IS God or that Muhamad is actually God's prophet? No, that is another discussion.

Same deal with the whole Jesus/Mythra paralell. Just because that paralell has no historical primary sources to back it up, and is considered by scholars on both sides of the fense to be bogus, doesnt mean the Bible is true and that Jesus is real. It just means that the paralells between Jesus and Mythra are factually incorrect.

When you say that watchtower was right about the trinity being wrong, you have to define what you mean. For example:

Do you mean that the watchower is right that what they say is the trinity is wrong, or do you mean that watchtower is right that that the ACTUAL trinity is wrong?

I am not a trinitarian, however I have researched it heavily, and one thing that is clear is that the watchtower misrepresents the trinity docterine, just like they do evolution.

so make sure you first understand what the trinity docterine is, and what the watchtower SAYS it is. to completly different things.

well, it's that time of year again.

the memorial season is upon us and jws the world over are getting ready for the celebration which this year falls on 17 april.

for the first time since 1975, yours truly will not attend and i couldn't be happier.

ive noticed for a while now (especially at the assemblies) the frequent use of the term: jehovahs friends whenever they referr to the second class christian, ahem....great crowd, aka the non-anointed christian with earthly hope.

even in some wt studies they often throw in phrases like seeking friendship with jehovah, our friend jehovah, etc.

so, the subtle message is clear, the great crowd are not children of god, they are friends of god.

is it me or was this article one of the clearest in stating that the way to get salvation is going out in field service?

i agree that this docterine is not new, but its kind of new that they are bringing it up for study. and the reason i think that is, is they are setting up a power play for the governing body. it seems headed in that direction and i think all these articles that suck the GB's d**k are part of the conditioning of the JW's to get them used to a pope like governing body.

in 2011 its clear that being an average witness is no longer acceptable. you must be a zealot in 2011. when i came in, in 1995 if you were a family head that worked full time, and went to all the meetings, commented, did a talk every month, field service on saturdays, and family study, you were doing great, a fine example. but now that is not acceptable. now you have to be a zealot that fills every second with service to the watchtower.

in 2011 the watchtower wants to suck your energy and resources dry, anything other than allowing that is displeasing to Jehovah.

there is a good thing about all this, and that is faithful JW's who have been faithful for years are starting to realize that something is not right. i cant tell you how many JW's I knew from my old congregation have stopped going or just gave up. And im talking about faithful old school people in their 60's.
