Thanks for all the responses. (sir82, I have thought about taking my photo off - probably will do that today.) What I'm gathering is that we will have to wait and see what this brings. I'm not "sweating it' not am I afraid - I really don't acknowledge their authority over me anymore - just more curious than anything else to see if others have had a similar experience and what happened to them as a result.

Letter from elders
by Cynisister inthe local elders have been trying to visit me (my hubby still attends meetings and he has told them i don't wish to speak with them), they left a copy of a watchtower (on helping inactive ones to return) in my door when i was not at thome, and this last sunday asked my husband if it's ok to write me a letter saying this is what they have to do.
they can't freely stop by as we have large dogs that would keep them out.. does anyone know if this is going to result in my being df'd??
i don't want that to happen yet as my husband's parents who are quite elderly, would be devastated.

Hello all,

Does anyone know if this is going to result in my being df'd?? I don't want that to happen yet as my husband's parents who are quite elderly, would be devastated. At their age it would be cruel to put this upon them, as we see them often.
Should I worry?
Thanks, Cynisister

DC Talk on Generaton
by Cynisister inas i will not be in attendance for this year's district convention, i would love to know exactly what the talk on the new meaning of "generation" actually states.
i visited my recently widowed mother (who found the "truth" when i was a toddler, and therefore i was raised in the religion - quit it totally 3 years ago) and had a lively discussion on the implications of this "new light".
she seemed really disturbed about all the "new anointed" ones coming out of nowhere.

Thanks to all for your replies and attempted "clarifications". I say that sarcastically to show up the ridiculous and far-fetched efforts of the WTS to satisfy the questions I'm sure many have but won't ask aloud. I agree they are buying more time in view of all the previous failed prophecies. As I told my mother to remember, truth never changes!!

To All,
As I will not be in attendance for this year's district convention, I would love to know exactly what the talk on the new meaning of "generation" actually states. She is very knowledgeable amd reasonable, and appeared to agree with my conclusions. But she attended the convention yesterday (Sunday) and happily told me, when I phoned to check on her, that this talk explains everything, and it's nothing like what we talked about and concluded. But she said I have to attend and hear it for myself - which I will not do!
So, if anyone can post the info from this talk I would very much appreciate it!
(I will not get into this again with her, as she is quite elderly and it wouldn't be of any benefit at this stage in her life. She is already ostracized by my younger sister and husband because she willingly associates with one of their df'd sons (her favorite grandson).)
Thanks and my best regards to all,
Cycisister

Hello all,
The PO spoke with my hubby at a recent meeting and asked if they could just stop by to see me. He said "I wouldn't" (we have nice, big, barking dogs that would never let them through the gate.) So they phoned me and asked if they could come that Wed. nite. Now, this PO and his family have been good friends with us and our son for almost 30 years, so it was a bit uncomfortable for him when I said "No, I'm not wanting to have that conversation." There was silence for a beat of about 5 seconds, then he said he'll call sometime in the future to check. I told him he could do that if he wishes.
Then I told my husband what I said and he just said OK, whatever you want. He now knows he will not be able to persuade me into going to the KH, meetings, assemblies, etc. ever again, and isn't sure what to make of all that.
My son, recently divorced, is a "secret fader", and he is the one who told me I don't have to comply with anything the elders ask. I have taken that to heart and realized that I no longer respect the "authority" of the WTS and its reps. What a great feeling that is after 59 years of being in the BORG and to crawl out from that pressure!
Best to all!

What Scholar said this?
by Cynisister inin the dec. 15, 08 wt (i just scan the mags that my still "loyal" hubby brings home from the kh to see if there's any "new light') a supposed scholar is quoted in par.
6 of page 17 as saying in regard to acts 20:20: "paul had spent three years in ephesus.
he visited every house, or at least he preached to all of the people.

I totally agree. When reading works by such authors of JW history like Penton, Gruss, T. Willis(White), you find that each and every quote is footnoted, referenced, bibliographied, etc. I guess I just notice the total absence of such references in the WT literature now, whereas I never questioned these before I was "enlightened".
I appreciate everyone's remarks on my question!
Enjoy your holidays!

I agree, and my research proves that Paul did not go door-to-door in the fashions of JW's. I just thought it was really arrogant of them to "quote" a supposed authority but not him, and very dishonest. But all the faithful would never question such a seemingly minor thing. I wouldn't have either 7 years ago. So glad to be free at 60!!

In the Dec. (see vs 26) HERE IS SCRIPTURAL WARRANT FOR HOUSE TO HOUSE EVANGELISM,,," (capitalization mine for emphasis.)
Anyone know exactly who said this?? A Jw "scholar" perhaps?
