i've spent a good part of the afternoon reading about the judicial committee meeting at www.disfellowshipped.com.. i am more determined than ever to reread the new testament and meditate on it anew.. could faith in christ be that simple?

YES, faith in Christ Jesus as the risen Lord and God in the flesh is that simple.
You do not have to do or believe anything but that and what the bible ALONE has to tell you. BELIEVE in Him and do as He does, live to the fullest of your ability a godly life.

how can the witnesses claim jesus returned in 1914 when the bible makes it clear in matt 24 that no one will have to tell us, we will know, just as lightening can be seen streaking across the sky, and all can see it, so will his return be.
followed by acts which tells us that just as jesus was taken up in glory so he shall return.. any jw's wanna do this one?.

Jesus did NOT come back in 1914, respectfully, son't worry about what others have to say to the contrary. Hold fast to the truth, sweet one, no matter what kind of abuse you might put up with from others!

i was scanning the television last night and ran across the great reverend dr. jack van impe.
he was offering some of his own 'new light'.
he said that his earlier interpretation of a 'generation' was incorrect.
Van Impe is a smart man but he is too inconstant. His opinions and ideas on end time prophecy tend to change on a dime. I used to watch him often, but tired of the endless Catholic love-fest, and his odd ideas that go way off the deep end at times.
I study the bible now on my own and with a man that truly knows his stuff.
The only thing that I am grateful to Van Impe for, is learning of the Rapture. I did not even know there was such a thing before I started watching his shows.
i was thinking about some of the comments in the bible where god had regrets.
gen. 6:6 does this mean he felt it was a mistake to make humans?.
when he decreed that nineveh would be destroyed and then changed his mind after they repented, would it have been a mistake if he had destroyed them before they had time to repent?.

God made the heavens and the earth already knowing the end of the book to begin with. He knew EVERYTHINg down to the finest detail already, right from the moment He decided to create.
My point here? God made the earth already knowing the things that would happen, such as what you mentioned. So God does not make mistakes.
Otherwise He would not have created us to begin with.

Rev. 21:2
That is, those of us who are part of the Bride which will be raptured (Rev. 3:10), and those among the tribulation saints who lose their lives for their witness.

Hey first of all you are NOT an idiot. You are really better off not knowing anything about the Jehovah's witnesses, for they will do all they can to impede your personal relationship with God the Father in Christ Jesus's name. they teach may things which go totally against scripture.

oh one more thing, i remembered wife saying, said speaker at yesterdays meeting mentioned that "thousands and thousands, of jdubs were killed ny the nazis.
can you believe it, wish he had of checked with the watchtower observer and really seen just how many thousands of thousands equated to.
i guess you don't have to tell the truth there you just have to keep repeating liesk, because if you tell a lie long enough it eventually will sound like the truth.
It has been a long time but I had heard that the actualy number was only somewhere between 800-900.
The WT simply took that number and blew it way out of proportion. They want to make it look like they suffered as much as the Jews and gypsies did.

i'm 30, and currently am not associated with any denomination.. what i don't understand is how the word "cross" got translated into the bible if it's not right.
aren't we supposed to believe the bible?.

I noticed that you quoted the NWT bible; A 'translation' that you would do well to avoid, for it takes too many liberties in the translation and makes some blatant errors on top of it.
Read a little of the history of the NWT, if you evre have a chance, and you will find it has been proved conclusively that the Hebrew 'translators' had little to no knowledge of even Basic Hebrew!

when i first started to look into the teachings of jesus, i went out and bought a couple of books to help me.
i bought a bible dictionary, and a bible commentary.
when i looked up " pharisees" in my bible dictionary, it said "see jewish parties".
From what I read on the Pharisees, I think yuo just about covered it.
You might also add that in Jesus's time, many Pharisees were somewhat TOO attached to the letter of the Law, and tended to neglect love, justice and mercy. Try reading Matthew 23.
