what does being a parent mean to you? my definition
by burningbridges inbeing a parent means asking for the wing out of the kentucky fried chicken basket just because you want your family to get the best pieces.. .
being a parent means watching traffic through your side mirrors and your child through the rear view mirror of your car because your afraid she'll cough on her crackers or even just bob her head to the music and you don't want to miss it.
it means getting light headed blowing up a whole house full of balloons just because it will make her smile.. .

My grandpas house was haunted. He used to see a white translusent figure in the hall occasionally when he'd get up to go to the bathroom at night. One weekend when my family was visiting his home I was snooping around in his awesome basement cellar that I wasnt supposed to be in (I was sixteen) Their was liquor down there, old books, dolls, all kinds of neat things. Well there was a wooded wheel chair ramp from before my grams died and a pull door that entered from the outside. I heard the door open and slam shut then steps on the wheel chair ramp. I was like crap I'm busted so I ran upstairs and I heard the person chase me on the wooded ramp (very obvious sounds) when i got upstairs i found my gramps napping in the living room and my mom reading. Everyone else was in town. I have no clue who "chased" me. We were out in the country with no one around.... We always heard steps in his attics upstair too, very obvious loud steps when no one was up there. He was so accustomed to it he just said it was the "lady" who walks around at night.

and i feel it's good for us to acknowledge the great job many of them are accomplishing with the pressures they have on them living with a spouse in a mind control cult.
i know it would be so easy sometimes for some in that position to say , " the hell with it !

Well me and my husband are divorcing and i had to get a rest order on him before so obviously not so hot. The order is gone now but were battling for custody and its war. Coping? I'm actually more sane and at peace than when I was in the hall, ironically, so that tells you how much pressure the hall puts on you....

Oh yea well I forgot about the shunning thing!!! Of COURSE theirs that!!!!!!! Who WOULDN'T shun their kid? Who was the individual who's step dad chose to shun them on their own, seperate from the hall? Now that was bullshit...... Marking it was called i believe..... Well I tell ya next time my daughter draws on the table its six months of shunning instead of two minutes of the naughts step!!!! (kidding, of course)

A brother in my old hall was bullied numerous times because his sideburns were longer than one inch, Well EXCUSE ME, I believe Jesus had a full beard. Who the hell made up these rules? Oh wait, we all know.... I thought it was ridiculous that women were only allowed to wear skirts, like we couldn't look presentable or feminine in other clothes.
I always wondered who coined the term "return visit" like it was a holy thing. "Let's go to my (drum beats please) return visit before we start the territory to get our time started... (because we all know it was all about the time anyways. God I hated that, the constant ticking clock.....)

Preschooling at home any good sources or guidelines?
by milligal inthis year my husband and i decided to keep our 4 year old home to preschool him at home.
partly because of expense and frankly because the area we live in is not known for a strong school system or high standards : ( so i am going to tackle this, but if i am going to do it i want to do it right.
i do have some background in child psychology and early childhood development, but i am wondering if anyone has done this before me and has any advice or resources.
