I watched half of it, and couldn't take it anymore. They are playing SO much on people's signs it drove me nuts. The show sucks and probably will get canceled soon.

I think they are hoping that Jehovah will cut them some slack because they go around defending the Watchtower even though they don't practice what they preach.
He said exactly that. That at the resurrection he thinks he has a 'chance' because of the knowledge he has and the belief of the WTS.

I was witnessed from a guy who has never been to meetings!
So I was sitting at an airport bar, watching the Obama parade on TV, and the guy next to me mentions to me that he likes Obama, but didn't vote. This guy does NOT meet the typical JW profile. This guy looks more like a drunk truck driver than a clean cut dub...
So I ask why he didn't vote. He responds "Because of my religion. I am a Jehovah's Witness but I don't go to meetings, and have never been to a meeting because I still like to drink and smoke". (he is not baptised) So I thought this could be a good chance to at least reveal some of the real truth, and remove some of his possible guilt of not going to meetings.
This guy served 4 years in jail, and during that term the JW's would visit and study with him. So the JWs find people in jail at their most vulnerable point, make 'friends' with them, and indoctrinate them. He was SO convinced that the JWs are the truth that I couldn't even get him to think any other way. I mentioned how I stopped going to meetings, and why... things like false prophesies, changing doctrine, etc, and he gave ME the typical canned answers defending THEM! He believes in the upcoming Armageddon, the resurrection, and paradise Earth, and thinks he has a chance to make it.
As much I tried to convince him it wasn't the truth, he tried to convince ME it WAS the truth! This was from a guy who has never been to meetings!
Indoctronization is strong!

The first episode features a nice little slam to the JW faith
Makes you wonder if there is an apostate somewhere there at Fox... How else would they come up with such a devious idea?

New show "Lie To Me" airs Wednesday Jan 21 at 8:00 EST on Fox. It is described below. I don't have any more information than this, but I am sure they will get into details of the JW faith!
LIE TO ME, the compelling new drama from the producers of 24, stars Tim Roth ("The Incredible Hulk," "Reservoir Dogs") as DR. CAL LIGHTMAN, the world's leading deception expert who studies facial expressions and involuntary body language to discover not only if someone is lying, but why. When someone shrugs one shoulder, rotates a hand or raises the lower lip, Lightman knows he's lying.
Based on the real-life scientific discoveries of Paul Ekman, the series follows Lightman and his team of deception experts as they assist law enforcement and government agencies to expose the truth behind the lies
The pilot is described: http://tv.yahoo.com/lie-to-me/show/pilot/episode/195618;_ylt=AiY7EzKgrmQdQTPn0BnjLxaVo9EF

I think one key thing is that you don't have to prove an alternative (i.e. Evolution/Natural Selection) to provide a very strong argument against religion, the Bible, and god.
Evolution is a theory (although supported with at least some evidence) but I think it's more important to remember the fact that an Athiest doesn't believe in God. He doesn't necessarily believe in evolution.
I personally think -some- aspects of evolution and natural selection make a lot of sense, but I am open minded enough to accept that it can be totally wrong and the real truth is yet to be found. This does not however provide any further arguments towards god either.

Anecdotal evidence for atheism
by hamilcarr inbelievers on this board repeatedly claim subjective experience as a major source for their belief.
this anecdotal evidence can't be checked by science because it falls outside the empirical realm.. what about atheism?
would it be possible that an atheist too has had a personal experience that convinced him of the non-existence of god?
-
Robert7
With me (and I imagine most Athiests) it isn't a one-time 'event'. It's a learning that there is extreme evidence that supports that there is no god. For most here on the board leaving the WTS caused us to question everything we believe from the ground up, and we learned that religion, and the manuscripts they are based on, are all man-made.

"Worldly" people are never really your friends.
by easyreader1970 inthe wbts society teaches us that worldy people can never really be more than "associates", that they can never be your friends.
if they seem like they are you friends, this is mere trickery and they are either out for something or they will cruelly hurt you in the end.
this is what they teach, especially to young people who might be tempted to befriend someone in school.. now to tell people that it is best to associate with like-minded believers is one thing.
-
Robert7
They also say that 'worldly' friends will try to pull you away from going to meetings... I have heard on stage before quoting a potential 'worldly' friend (paraphrased) "Let's go out tonight, you can miss a meeting just this once, let's go out and have fun instead"...
I NEVER had a 'worldly' friend ever try to talk me out of a meeting while I was still in. They simply respected it and we would pick another night. Ironically these are my true friends who are still there for me today.
