thought this was funny!.
drinks and personalities.
seven new york city bartenders were asked if they could nail a woman's personality, based on what she drinks.

i'm giving up smoking on the 22nd.
it will be the third time, but this time as part of a government sponsored training course with drugs and patches supplied etc.
anyone else given up and got any helpfull advise?.
I quit permanently over 5 years ago. I had quit many, many times before. Once for over a year.
Everyone who has responded has given some excellent suggestions. I will offer mine to you. It has worked for me over the years, because sometimes, abet rarely, I still crave a smoke. No matter what, and I mean NO MATTER WHAT, you do not have a cigarette. For you, as it is for me now, it is no longer an option to smoke. Yes, no matter how badly you crave just one. And those cravings can be a killer! Do not submit to it.
Good luck to you!

just discovered this thread by going to who's who.. i guess i'll add my life story.. born and raised a dub, i didn't really mind being a witness but always had a secret desire to celebrate christmas, birthdays and halloween.
they always looked fun.. had a really fun time during the teen years, had some great friends and we did our share of partying, but never really got out of hand.
i was, for the most part, pretty good.
Tweetie Bird,
Thanks for sharing

i know i said i wouldn't post here again because of the way i made everyone upset over alanf, but i thought you all might want to know what took place and i do need some advice.. .
yesterday i took a little time out to talk with jehovah's witnesses.
at first they were more than happy to answer my questions.
I think Detective has some valid points regarding whether or not they interpeted your interview as "official".
My questions to you, Danni, are this:
Under what circumstances did your interview take place? Did you call the local KH? Did you lure them with the belief that you were considering studying with them?
Mind you, I am just curious. However, I am not suprised by the behavior they exhibited and answers, or lack of, that they gave to you.

that is the question i've been asking myself.
i'm not trolling for attention with this post.
nobody has hurt my feelings.
Okay folks! Moral of the story is................
If someone puts what is obviously much time and effort into a post, and you benefit from their efforts.............
Drum roll, puleeeese........
LET THEM KNOW!!!!
Post it to them, email them, shout it out your kitchen window!
Anyway, MC doesn't have my permission to leave here.

why do kids love wellies so much?.
we went to buy liam some new school shoes and clothes yesterday and both lads wanted to buy some wellies - liam got green tweenie ones and dylan got red thomas the tank engine ones.. they wore them when we got home and didn't take them off till bedtime.
this morning they are both walking round in their pyjamas and ... wellies.
What is it with the Brits adding an "ie" to the end of words for the cutsey affect???
Wellies?
Nappies?
And that Brit dog trainer, that I saw on 60 minutes, would lead her pooch on a leash chirping "walkies"!!

we all dream often of how we might like to be living in a certain kind of environment, if you were the artist / designer of your ideal home, what construction materials would you work with, what shape would be your structure, what features would it have and what tone would you set for the place?
.
describe your dream home..... celty
It is my spouses dream to build us a custom home.
The one feature he goes on the most about is a VERY long bathroom counter with TWO sinks, clearly marked "HIS and "HERS".

here is another unequivocal example of a claim of direct inspiration: in the olin moyle court case of 1943, fred franz said under oath that no man is the editor of the watchtower.
who, then, is the editor?
who became the editor?
he foretold today’s superpower rivalry and showed that it will soon end in a way that neither one suspects
As someone that had to hear the ole “King of the North” (Soviet Union) and “ King of the South”(USA) predictions/lectures, through the years, from my Father, maybe the WTS wasn’t so far off after all. Who would of thought in 1987 that 1989 would bring the collapse of the Soviet Union and their system of extreme socialism (one of my pet peeves is when someone calls them “Communists”. They were never able to progress to that form of “government” and no true communist government has ever existed anywhere, at any time, ever). When rivalry ended, if it has, indeed, ended, it did in a way that most of us would have never thought. I’m sure most of us had visions of 20 mega ton nuclear warheads and craters the size of Lake Michigan.
So, back to the North and South tales of my youth.
One of my hobbies back in the 1980’s was reading and learning about the Soviet Union. Mainly concentrating on the Khrushchev and Brezhnev years. Anyone with half a brain would have realize that their economic system, and infrastructure, was nothing more than a house of cards (I could really go into a rant about the CIA on this one, but I will control myself). So, when the whole sha-bang fell apart I was certainly NOT surprised. However, most people sure seemed to be.
My poor JW Dad, supported by the WT, predicting the fall of the one of the superpowers. They were correct, in part, I suppose. Too bad the wrong King fell.

i have a suggestion.
ok, we do not want to lose people like farkel, alan, mind..........hmmmmmmmmmm, this fluff mind is drawing a blank on names here.
hmmmm, oh yeah focus is one.
Hello all,
There is just going to be no way everyone on this forum is going to be completely satisfied. I vote with keeping things the way they are . I do think that the various catagories should be used more.
I do not think there is nearly as much "fluff" as people like to believe. I would support my opinion by going back and actually counting the various posts, but I'm lazy today, and I don't wanna. So, my lovies, actually go back and compare for yourselves the number of "fluff" posts to those that are "serious". Go back at least a few days, I think you will be suprised by the serious to fluff ratio. Serious stuff is not nearly as outnumbered as one would like to think.
Now, if I ruled the world, here would be two things I would order invented:
1. Because so many of us read the more hard-hitting posts
but don't have a comment, or opinion, to offer, there
could a wave button invented called "applause". A poster
just click that button, and when that thread would open,
clapping could be heard. With each subsequent click, the
applause would just come louder and louder. It could even
be taken a step further by maybe adding a "here, here"!
That way, the maker of the thread, be it humorous or
serious, would know that his or her efforts are
appreciated.
2. Now this suggestion would probably only be useful for
Simon. Being the patient, and compassionate, man that he
is, I'm sure he would only use it with complete
discretion. That would be to somehow be to break in
to either a posting troll, or someone that any reasonable
person would consider to be an obnoxious jerks computer,
and clock them dead in the face with a boxing glove
attached to a spring. "Boom"! knock them out cold when
it pops out the offenders computer screen. Just like
when we, ok, when "I" used to watch those
wonderfully funny Warner Bros. cartoons.
So, there is my .02 on how to make this board a more happy and fulfilling experience for us all.
Kisses!

hello eveyone.
forgive me for just jumping in your threads without giving some information about myself.. my name is danni.
i am a law enforcement officer.
Hi Danni,
I'm going to give to to you straight. There is probably no future with you and your witness friend. Unless, of course, you become a witness too. I would urge you to learn all you can about the Watchtower Society. In my opinion, your friend is in the clutches of a very insideous cult. From his vantage point, just associating with you endangers his survival into "The New Order".
That IS the point of being a JW. To convert as many people as possible, go to all the meetings, follow the doctrine unquestioningly, and most of all, DO NOT expose yourself to anything, or anyone, that might contradict the Society. If he does those things, then he survives The Great Tribulation (according to them). If he doesn't, he's burnt toast (like all Non-witnesses).
Holding Armmagedeon over their heads is one way witnesses are controlled. Another is through shunning. Do ALL witnesses shun? No. A large portion do, however. I will only speak from my personal experience. My extended family was destroyed because of shunning. Family I haven't seen, or talked to, in over 20 years. Why? Because some of us don't want to be Jehovah Witnesses.
I'm sure your friend is a very nice person. But, he is right. You two are on separate roads.
Also be aware that a female's roll in the WTS is one of submission and silence. They have NO power. NONE. Just another thing for you to consider.
I wish you well.
