New Dates to help WTS

not that anyone would want to help the wts shore up its prophetic speculations, and continue to perpetrate their fanciful but idiotic schemes ... nevertheless ... in an effort to salvage their biblical dreams, and escape their current embarassments and false prophecies, one might see them in the near future pull off something like the following.. you eyes might glaze over ... but this is short:.

the 2nd temple was started by zerubabel in 517 bc and completed and dedicated in 515 bc.

the wts could easily make this 2nd temple a symbolic 'anti-type' representing the renewed, rebuilt condition of 'spiritual israel' the anointed 144,000 ... and then take the 2,520 years spoken of by daniel, from the date of the dedication of the 2nd temple, and voom ... boom ... flash ... zap ... we arrive at 2005 ad for the establishment of the 'completed and dedicated' spiritual anti-type temple in heaven ... to eventually be occupied by the temple class.. add to this, the walls of jerusalem, built to protect the city outside the 2nd temple and its people, were not completed until 445 bc ... this commenced the 70 weeks until the messiah would arrive, according to daniel.

WTS = Laurel and Hardy? Hilarious!

They have many reasons to point at each other and exclaim, "Well here's ANOTHER fine mess you've gotten us into!" Whether it's one of the scandals, or perhaps a new date -- it is not leading to happy times ahead for the WT Society.

Amazing, I really hope (for their sake) that they are through with date-setting. Hopefully the newer generation of WTS leaders will abandon that nonsense which just messes with the minds of their followers. (I only care because I have family and former friends who I care about still in....)

Trying to erase the WTC from history ?

last week we were in burger king and on the wall behind us was a fantastic blank and white photo of the twin towers of the world trade centre.. this week, the picture has gone although all the other pictures of ny buildings are still up.. why?

surely this is a bigger insult to people than keeping it up there?.

i can understand removing images of the wtc from films where it is part of a terrorist plot but the buildings did exist and were magnificent.. what do you think?

I think "trying to pretend these buildings never existed" is childish and insulting to the intelligence of the public. The memories of the WTC event are painful, but erasing a picture doesn't erase a memory, and leaving the picture up would be a noble tribute to those who loved the buildings and to the great city in which they were located.

Society interferes in marriage AGAIN.

ive not been so angry for a long time.. the watchtower article entitled jehovah hates the course of treachery in the may 1st 2002 issue is a masterpiece of bullshit.

there are so many points in it i feel that i should make more than one thread.. in this thread i will deal with the issue of marriage discussed from paragraph 13 onwards.

paragraph 15 warns against marrying an unbeliever and confirms the societys view that only jehovahs witnesses will survive armageddon, so why bother marrying someone who will die soon?.

Yes, this article is disturbing on several fronts, as you said. It seems like they keep recycling the same stuff over and over. They're still pushing this "end is near" stuff as if it were automatically true, and then go on to tell you how to behave based on that erroneous conclusion. (Similar to how in the 1940's, they told the children it wouldn't be wise to marry, based on the nearness of the end -- months away!!)

And then they enter the realm of the bedroom -- what incredible hutzpah! Why do they feel they can manipulate the lives of their readers to such an extent.

I have just lost my appetite for breakfast.

We found the pen thief !

i always need a pen in my hand when i'm working - i jot things down and do a lot of scribbling (i'm sure a psychologist would have a field day with my doodles).. over the last few weeks though all my pens have been disappearing.

i blamed angharad who had borrowed them and not put them back, she thought it must be the kids who wanted to draw with them (they've discovered a great paper supply which i like to call 'the printer') but they said they hadn't.. this morning, the culprit was discovered .... i put my pen down on the desk and up popped one of the cats, picked it up in it's mouth and calmly walked off with it.

we followed it and found a stash of them behind a kitchen cabinet along with a good selection of the kids stickle bricks.. now, i just need to teach it to bring them back!

Danielson's experiment, DOH!

I believe people on this board are willing to forgive an honest person. You weren't honest in bringing forth this "Truth Defender" character, but you have been honest about it ever since.

But if you ever... ever... pull that again, then I think Refiner's Fire's comments will be very true.

I have liked the "Danielson" posts -- I hope that's the real you, and am willing to give you the benefit of the doubt (as I would try to do for anyone).

"Social Retardation"

question for those who were raised as jws.....after you left, especially if as an adult, did you ever feel like you were "socially retarded"?

i was married twice to jws, yet when i was single again as an xjw, i really felt like i didn't know how to get to know someone of the opposite sex, how to date, what to do or not do, what to expect or not expect.

my ex-husband talked to me the other day and he stated the same thing.

I remember thinking the same thing, "The JW kids are worse". I went to a wedding reception for a girl I used to work with, and the people there had a great time dancing and doing things, almost exactly like any JW reception I'd been to (except that there were no elders watching over anyone's shoulder).

Yes, I feel that same 'social retardation'. It's hard to know HOW to act around people, sometimes.

The most understanding mate may be another ex-JW, if you can find a compatible one.

My husband found my Crisis of Conscience book

a little background is that i stopped going to the meetings 7 months ago.

my husband is and has been inactive for many years but still feels that even though there are many things wrong with the org.. that they are the true religion.. ok, so what was my reaction when my husband came out of our room and asked: .
