Yep Dave -- you did say "close-minded" religious people. I hope that most religious people would be able to have a sense of humor, and even if they don't agree with it just accept that this movie another POV.

close-minded religious people should save their money and not go see this movie but instead give your money to the next tv evangelist or street magician you see.

Cameo,
Maybe it'll enlighten a few people. America (as you know) is highly religious. Humor can be a powerful weapon to break through entrenched thinking. Maybe some folks will come to understand that religion = superstition after they see this. Or it'll just 'preach to the non-converted'.

This essay shows that JW's are deluded. They think their work is SO important that God and the angels are watching every person for their reaction to the Watchtower message.
When the man with no legs (Kevin Connolly) went around the world taking pictures of various people reacting to him, he saw people going about their various activities. Then he came across a JW doing street work and snapped a photo.
So Conolly's website somehow reminds this JW essayist that everyone who doesn't listen to JW's will die at Armageddon! Apparently everyone is to blame for living their life -- and normal activities are "distractions" that keep people from paying to the all-important message peddled by the JW's.
It's sad and it's delusional.

Dave,
Glad to hear you enjoyed it. I plan to see it tomorrow night. I disagree with you that religious people wouldn't enjoy this movie. From what I've heard, even religious people like all the parts that don't apply to their particular religion. Good laughs for everybody. Go BILL !!
TopHat,
The only time religious people are scary are when they hold political power and try to legislate morality based on some ancient book or use their power to steer public funds towards a particular religion, thus supporting one religion and thereby discrimnating against other religions and against non-believers.

Reps Threatened with Martial Law if a No Vote

brad sherman says congress threatened with martial law in the unitied states if bailout bill is not passed.

Martial Law is a technicality within Congress, forcing a vote and waiving a review period.
It does not apply to the citzenry of our country.
I haven't heard anything about forces being on the streets, etc. I'd really like to see a source for that (besides a conspiracy-believing blog).

Here's one for you, Blondie ---
Cocktails For Two
Spike Jones
In some secluded rendezvous,
That overlooks the avenue,
With someone sharing a delightful chat,
Of this and that,
And cocktails for two.
As we enjoy a cigarette,
To some exqiuisite chansonette,
Two hands are sure to slyly meet beneath a serviette,
With cocktails for two.
My head may go reeling,
But my heart will be o-be-di-ent,
With in-tox-i-cat-ing kisses,
For the principal in-gre-di-ent,
Most any afternoon at five,
We'll be so glad we're both alive,
Then maybe fortune will complete her plan,
That all began

As the article says, he remains a JW.
He learned the organization's doctrine from Larry Graham, and attended a Kingdom Hall near his recording studio (Paisley Park in Chanhassen, Minnesota). He was baptized around 1999, attended meetings and even conventions in Minnesota.
Currently "Brother" Nelson splits time between Toronto and L.A. When performing his older songs, he removes lyrics that he deems offensive to his JW sensibility.
It seems to me like he has one foot in the Borg and one foot in the music scene.

Gladring,
My friend "Shepherd Book" posts on this forum, and his questions about the Flood (documented in the site shown below) and resulting non-answers from the WT Society led to his fading from the organization.

It's always hilarious when stupid pothead drunks think they are smarter than their superiors
