  JWs still do Phone 'callin' - instead of door-knockin...

  i just got a phone call from my wife.

  she said that the phone rang a few minutes ago (about 11am local time), and when she looked at the caller-id, it said 'jehovah's witnesses'... or somesuch.

  so - she answered the phone.

  I hated doing phone witnessing..... I pioneered for a while there and when it was really crappy out we would do phone witnessing. I absolutely hated it.

  i changed my mind... i knew someone who liked to microwave CHICKEN THIGHS for a half hour and then eat them.... Imagine waking up to the smell of rotting flesh and then watching that person eat it... yeah.. i hate the smell of cigarettes but the rotting flesh smell is a thousand times worse.

  cigarettes... the smell makes me sick. And i truly hate the way it lingers on my clothes when i have been around someone who smokes....

  raising kids without a religion - thoughts, advice?

  ok, thinking about taking the leap and starting a family.

  i've held back for years because of this subject.

  almost entire family are jw's, but my husband and i haven't been for many years and have no desire to raise children as one, or any other organized religion.

  I want to go to a mtg simply to see people, but I know I'll regret it

  this is probably prompted by the fact that i had a dream about someone last night who we used to be pretty good friends with prior to us leaving the org.

  also another couple we used to be friends with gave birth to their first child last month and we'd love to see them.

  Younglove, You can never really go back. It will never be the same as it once was. Friendships will never be quite the same. People change and things change. I have learned this many times . Its easy to remember the people and the memories.. the good times. Keep it at that. I know how hard it is to think of what you thought you had... thought being the key word. Keep the good memorys.. Lose the bad. But remember... things change. And this is part of life.

  My only problem with the JWs

  besides the fact that jws are pious, think only they have the truth, won't read anything with an open mind... hell won't read anything at all minus wt magazines... .

  after all this, my only real problem is the shunning... almost everyone i love gets on my nerves from time to time, i get on theirs.

  the fact that the jws beliefs is annoying isn't the problem, it just that after they are wrong as hell becasue of their ignorance, they won't talk to you.. i'm not trying to get my family to eradicate their beliefs, i'm just trying to get them to stop shunning those of us that don't believe like them.
