  My best friends dad got DF'D for molesting some of the young boys in the hall.. Although he was df'd, it was never turned over to the police..

  my wedding is coming up and i am going to invite my mom and my dad and the rest of my siblings.

  how should i react when my recently new regular pioneer mother starts pitching a fit????

  Just dont let them take away from the beauty of your day. Thats where i was going with that. They will say what they are going to say. Let them know they are loved and wanted there. But do not bring yourself down to their level. Its your day and it will be great! Congratulations!!

  i got married in july and sadly experienced this same thing. I sent out the invitations. Did not hear ANYTHING back from my dad or siblings. I left it at that. I did not try to call them or anything else. I felt i had done my part by extending the invitation. They did not show up at my wedding. And my day went on.It was beautiful.. and in all honesty they were missed. But i refused to let that take away from MY DAY. Its tough.. i understand exactly where you are coming from right now.

  I knew of one woman. When i was a kid she was really "bad". she would come running into the KH screaming that it was all lies. She would picket outside the hall and at assembly's. among other things. Long story short, One of my last meetings right before i "left" the "truth" she came walking back into the kingdom hall.. I remember everyone staring and they were all shocked as it had been 20 years since anyone had seen her. She was quiet and listened to the talk.. and after she got up and left quietly. She has no family or friends in the "truth" So it was kind of random for her to start doing that again. Last i heard she was reinstated and doing "well". I would like to think mental illness brought her back?

  Do they still do the Friday Night Pre-WT Study???

  in the early 90's, all the rage was the pre wt study.. basically, the young witnesses would get together on friday nights to underline their watchtower together.. then afterwards we'd hangout or whatever.. it used to drive me crazy because if you wanted to hang out, basically you would have to sit through another meeting.. granted it was informal, but it was the same dang thing you were going to do again on sunday.. the young ones still doing this today?.

  yeah.. that was something that was really big in the early 90's when i was a kid.. I think that has tapered off over the years. I know as of 8 years ago when i was still going nobody was doing that.

  Funny things you thought growing up -

  1. a "shower" as in "baby shower" or "wedding shower" was when a bunch of people got together to take a shower together.

  which didn't go over well with me when my mom wanted to go to a shower without my dad.. 2. when my father said to my mom that he was going to marry somebody, as in do there vows or something, i thought he was going to marry somebody else and start another family.

  i almost fainted when he told me that he was leaving to go do that.

  At one time my parents were looking to buy a condo. Well i thought they said we were going to live in a condom... and i went and told EVERYONE that we were going to live in a condom. my parents let me do that for a while before they corrected me.. haha.
