You can't be much of a JW or what ever you claim to be. If you don't know what the "service department " is.
have found out from reliable source that the object of our hatred at the mo( and still very deserving of our loathing though he may be) was actually disfellowshiped years ago, am still working on the exact details but will share them as soon as i get them guys.will try and get the date of his disfellowshiping etc n let you know.

nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose--.
a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.. mary shelley.
If you believe in the Gospel only the things you like,
But reject things in the Gospel you don't like,
Then its not the Gospel you believe,
But yourself.

Is well known in the uk that he was dfd yrs ago, think this is something thats been jumped on by press as breaking news.
I'm in UK as well and it's not well known to me. Where is your information?
All the media, newspapers and TV, in the UK have been describing him as an "Elder" in the congregation he was in. Though at the time of the offences he was a Ministerial Servant in Clevedon. Somerset. Which has not been denied by the JW's. Even those of his own congregation knew him as an Elder. In 2000 he moved to London and became an Elder in the Mill Hill Kingdom Hall, Barnet, London. So much for the "holy spirit" choosing Elders..
do they think the lds church is a cult......or do they just lump them in with christendom?.
lavendar .
I remember many years ago when I was a Min Servant opening the Service Meeting.
One of the items was about Mormons. There had been an article in a previous Watchtower about Mormons.
The item in the Kingdom Ministry was to say that we as JW's were not to make any comments about the Mormon religion.
I found it strange at the time, that such an item appeared.
Were they afraid of something from the LDS?
the catholic church knows that it has a problem with many of its priest who have been proven.
to be pedophiles.
millions of dollars have been paid out to the victims.
If you are aware that there is child abuse going on now DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ......... NOW !
Thats true we should. But how many of us do. How many of us would know if child abuse is happening.
How many times when a case appears in the media do you get neighbours saying "I never knew it was going on she/he always seemed a happy child." or "The family were just like any other family. Very nice neighbours"
How many of us have heard a neighbours child crying. Do we think they must be being abused?
We've just had a horrific case in the news recently. A little 4 yr old girl beaten, burned, kicked, by her mother and partner. It was only the fact the child died that any of it became knowledge. Yet neighbours would say how the child waved to them through the window as they passed the house. Would child abuse have crossed your mind?
The NSPCC here have a phone number people can call if you suspect child abuse. You can do it anonymously.
As organisation like the NSPCC point out most child abuse something like 80-90% of child abuse is from within the family.
and i missed them again.
last time i saw them walking down the other side of my street.
today they stopped by when i was out and i missed them by about ten or twenty minutes and no they didn't leave any mags.
I've just realised its ages since they have been down my street. Must be getting on for 6 months. Now I've said that they'll probably turn up today (Sunday).
But I have noticed that in the last 3-4 years they don't seem to come round here as often. It used to be at least every couple of months. The KH is only up the road from me and the group I was in is close by as well. From what I've heard the congregation has dropped by about a third.
everyday, that i read, write, think and talk about the watchtower society makes me think whether or not i have really left it for good.. .
i fail to see the good in reliving the past in this way.
the discussion board features individuals that have 3 to 6 years on the board and individuals who have left the organization more.
There is a saying "You can leave the Watchtower, but the Watchtower never leaves you."
Most of us on here still in some way have a connection with the WT. I still have a wife and two daughters who are JW's, none of which have spoken to me in the last six years since I DA'd. Can I just ignore the fact because of the WT they have no contact with me.
If it wasn't for JWD I may not have been able to get on with my life. Realising that I wasn't alone that the same or even worse had happened to others. Last year I met through Dansk (may he soon be well) arranging a meeting with 30 other exJW's.
Its doesn't mean that I spend every waking moment thinking about JW's. I have work and other family members to think about.
Though I do like to know what they are up to, so to speak. As with the latest Kingdom Ministry over bible study.
As Jeff said in his reply to the person. When something happens in a person life, like rape or child abuse etc. We can either dwell on it and let it run out life or we can use it in a positve way. We can use the expereince to help others or draw strength from it and be determined not to let it rule our life.
Which is the healthier if you are a JW who has left the WT whether DF'd, DA'd, fading etc. Or to sit at home brooding about it or to speak to others who are going through the same thing.
ok guys and gals, i (being the assistant to the magazine counter) have acquired the newest okm.. i have uploaded it to imagevenue.com: here.
hopefully that works!.
by the way drew, your translation was very close.
Can wait to see the Greek one coming up...It is obvious that WT has a HUGE problem regarding indepent research, that Brothers they are doing...
The thing the really pisses me off, is that the Greek N.W.T is completely crap...I mean there is an "excuse" for the rest of the world, but for Greeks JW..NO WAY.
justhuman
We have a Greek guy who attends the church I go to.
He was telling one time how he got into an argument over the NWT with a JW Elder. Like you telling him the NWT was a crap translation of the Greek. The Elder who thought he knew his Greek tried to pull some grammatical tricks etc. But the guy kept showing him were the WT was wrong on such things. In the end the Elder sarcastically says "Oh and what makes you such an expert on the Greek language"
To which the guy says "Because I am Greek!"
At which the JW just turns and leaves.
well here is october 2007 awake, maybe this has been posted a million times already but i got this sooner then most do.. i reattached with larger images so you can read the fine print.
of course the wt is one that truly supports the protection of children over its image..
I remember back in the 1980's there was an "Awake" that dealt with child abuse.
I recall a JW sister asking how could they print such an article.
An Elder said it wasn't meant for JW's but for people in the world to show how bad things are. Nothing like that happens in Jehovahs organisation.
For some reason it always stuck in my mind.
I wonder what they think now?
I've just realised the sister who made that comment, her grandson , was involved in something with young children. The family moved away, but I heard he was again involved in something with children.
Maybe thats why I remembered the remarks .... its so ironic.
i will be respectful.
but in reading past posts it seems we are allowed to speak frankly?
i think jehovah's witnesses have the truth.
No church or oganisation can ever claim to have "the Truth" as long as they are controlled and run by man. And please don't say the Watchtower isn't run by man but by Jehovah. There is absolutely NO evidence it is. Only in the minds of its followers (and quite a few them have their doubts).
The biggest contributing factor in my leaving after 30 years was the total lack of love, help and support at a time when I and my family needed it. In fact causing the break up of my family instead. It was this attitude that set me on the path of reseaching more deeply onto the teachings of the Watchtower than I had ever did before.
In the end I could no longer in good conscience follow something I came to learn that was based on lies and deceit.
Consequently this led me to disassociate. Costing me any contact with my JW wife and two daughters for the last 6 years.
I became a Christian and now attend a Pentecostal church. Attending services where they USE and DISCUSS the Bible and never have a book or magazine in sight telling them what to believe.
