Witness World Response to Apostates
by DevonMcBride inbelow is what was posted on witness world by polly pan.
i took euphemism's advice and others to protect my identity.
about a week ago it was brought to administrations attention that there may be apostates lurking on our board, as a precautionary measure we deleted 107 members who had never posted since they joined.

I was a member of "Witness World" from end of last November. Kept slipping in those little awkward questions, asked in all innocence of course. Like why was the "generation" teaching changed. Why are "we" now allowing so many blood components to be used. Why in a certain congregation didn't they disfellowship a brother, a MS, when exposed as a child molester. Over which an Elder who was a friend of mine resigned because they didn't.
It used to quite funny seeing the panic such questions caused.

I attended my last meeting August 1999, after learning the truth about the WT, I could no longer sit there and listening to the lies. Didn't DA then because had family still in. Expected a visit from the Elders, as one only lived a two minute walk away from me. Nothing, not even a phone call. Coming up to the Memorial the following year 2000, thought they would call to invite me, as thats when they try to get everyone they can there. But no. nothing, not even an invitation slip pushed through the door. So I thought right thats it then, shows how much "love and concern" you have for me. The only time they came round was in September 2001, TWO YEARS!! after I had last attended. Then the only reason was it was a compaign to get "inactive" ones back, because numbers had dropped, not out of any personal concern about me. Thats when I DA'd.
Go to a memorial I couldn't even bring myself to enter a Kingdom Hall now.
If they invite me I'll tell them where they can stick their "don't eat or drink" wine and bread.

Possible Anti - Apostates here on JWD.
by link inthis is obviously in response to the thread "possible apostates here on jwd" started by flying high now.
it was clearly not intended to be taken seriously but it does reflect another possibility that should be considered seriously and that is that there are anti-apostates on this board.. i do not consider myself to be a particularly paranoid person but i have seen signs of things that do not seem quite right to me.
so what do i mean and how would an anti-apostate operate here?

Why does the Society "go beyond what is written" re blood?
by Waymores Ghost inthis may sound somewhat cynical, but i think the society has held to it's position on blood in order to create a never-ending supply of martyrs.
martyrs are needed for the society to hold up as shining examples of faith and devotion.
this sense of self-sacrifice helps them tow the line with regards to all of their insane rules.. wg

Jehovah told Israel to not EAT blood. Blood transfusion was not an issue back then but respect for life was which was represented by the blood.
Millions of people also live because they have had a blood transfusion.
No medical procedure is 100% safe. Even just going into hospital is a risk, what with MRSA virus around.
Most surgery does not use whole blood but components of blood many of which are allowed for JW's.
JW's always bring the Pope into the argument what has he got to do with it, was he the only person that year to have a blood transfusion.
Yes a little research and common sense would show that the JW doctrine on blood is totally unscriptural.
I was a JW for 30 years I saw the teaching change from a complete ban on anything blood to, now you can have this fraction or that component.
Also its laughable that one of the "alternatives" a JW is allowed is made from cows blood.
Watchtower policy now permits the use of all these blood components.
What is forbidden?
This is a complex question. As you may know the WTS still prohibits whole blood and certain blood components namely, red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma. But here is the key: they allow everything inside of these components to be used.
If you discount the membranes of the red cells, white cells and platelets, they are allowing somewhere between 97 and 98% of the blood. However, the membrane is stroma (protein/enzyme) and as a fraction it too would be permitted. So technically the WTS permits 100% of the blood in fractionated form.
Here is an analogy: It's like saying, "see that truck over there, it's stolen and you can't buy it but if someone dismantles it, it's not a truck anymore, it's truck parts and you can buy what you want. However, the engine, the transmission, the radio and the disc brakes are special. They are the 'primary' components of the truck (i.e. the red cells, white cells, platelets and plasma). You can't have these 'primary' components unless you first completely dismantle them. If you do that you can buy them too."
Just how accurate is this analogy? Consider this: Red blood cells are prohibited by the Watchtower Society. What is a red blood cell? Nothing more than a donut shaped miniature bag of hemoglobin. Broken down by dry weight, the red cell is 97% hemoglobin and 3% bag (membrane). To permit hemoglobin and ban red cells is the equivalent of saying to someone, "see those bags of groceries over there? You can take the food from the bags, but I will report you to the police if you actually take the groceries with the bags."
The Watchtower Society's blood policy has swiftly mutated into a deadly shell game. The policy aims to permit artificial blood (hemoglobin solutions like HemoPure and PolyHeme). While the leadership waits for the new blood products to hit the market, members continue to reject medically necessary transfusions of red cells and discontinue their chemotherapy treatments when platelet transfusions are needed even though platelets comprise less than 1/5 of 1% of blood volume. The average Jehovah's Witness has no realization of what is taking place.

Son in Hospital.
by Gordy inon new years eve morning, my son (28) ex-jw, da'd 3 years ago, went to see the doctor, he hadn't been feeling well for a while, tired and run down.. they took some blood for a test, at 5:15pm the doctor rang him up to say their was an ambulance on the way his blood count was only 5.7, should be 13. he was very aneamic, which would explain the tiredness.
next day they gave him 2 units of blood and another 2 units the next day.
he had no hesitation in accepting the blood.

He wondered how his JW mother would react to him having blood, he was ready with all the arguments. She came to visit with his younger brother. He told her what treatment he had had, his brother sort of held his breath, but she never said a word about it. Nor mention it on other visits. This is a woman who at one time wouldn't buy red coloured sweets because she believed that blood was usued in the colouring, or certain brands of tinned meat, or stock cubes etc.
Incidently she would time her visiting, so that she didn't run into me when I visited.
Another difference was that at the church we both now attend, when I walked in I was inundated with people asking about him. Giving me cards for him. They even prayed for him during the service. Also he had many from the church visit him in hospital.
I remember when I was very ill, for about 2 weeks, when I was a JW. When I went back to the KH most of them didn't even notice I hadn't been there. One Elder said "You missed a couple of important meetings" even he didn't know I had been ill, and I was a MS!!
Anyway my son is now recovered, his blood count was up to 11 by the time he left hospital, and they have put him on a course of iron tablets.

Jeremiah 29:10
by TheOldHippie inthe new danish and swedish revisions of the nwt have "lifted up" the nwt-with references footnote alternative rendering of jeremiah 29:10 into being the preferred one, so that it no longer says "in babylon" but "for babylon".
has there been any change or revision in the english issue?

When I was a JW a few years ago a sister in the congregation married a Scots JW brother.
The groom, best man and all the Scots brothers who came down from Edinburgh for the wedding all wore kilts. Some had the full regalia on, even down to the knife (skidudh I think its called) in the sock.
We had one of them staying at our house for a couple of days.
He said the only thing their Presiding Overseer told them was that a real Scotsman wears nothing under the kilt, but they were not to me real Scotsmen.

"In Social Settings, The Common Theme of Discussions Is Jehovah's Kingdom"
by minimus inyou want to hear a funny one??

From experience, with JW's social gatherings or even just having them round to my house for a meal.
The last thing you can get JW to do is to talk about Jehovah's kingdom or in fact anything spiritual.
