But I have read many an experience of a JWs, in USA, saying that they had a gun.
I also recall many years ago, 1980's, when a JW, watching a program about different familes in USA.
In it was a JW family and I recall seeing the father taking his son out for gun practice.
I remember it shocked my wife.
I did know a JW farmer who had rifles and shotguns, for dealing with vermin (rats, rabbits, foxes etc)

Religion is a serious mental illness like those that say that 9/11 was not an i***e job. ;-)
That seems a bit of an oxymoron.

I recall listening to a Pastor tell of how he was going through a supermarket checkout.
The checkout girl was wearing a cross, so he said to her "Are you a Christian."He said the girl look puzzled, so he pointed out that she was wearing a cross so was she Christian.
Her reply was "Its just a piece of jewellery, I just thought it looked nice."

Personnally on all the 30 years I was a JW, I never had a bad experience while preaching.
I never got yelled at or chased off property. Had a few dogs bark at me, but never had any set on me.In fact in my congregation it was very very rare anything happened to any brother/sister.
I can only recall one brother being shouted at and a sister had a bucket of water thrown over her, which later turned out to be an accident. The only things that happened to me were doors being answered by very scantily clad females, or walking into gardens and finding them sunbathing topless, on a couple of occasions naked. Also would get men doing the same, usually trying to put me off.
I recall preaching one afternoon, and a young guy (20's) answered the door. But he sort of half hid behind it, I could see he had no top on.
We chatted for a 2-3 minutes, then a female voice shouted from upstairs "Are you coming back up, I'm waiting."
So I finished up and said bye to him.I often wonder when did he realise that the door he was try to hide behind was glass fronted and I could see quite clearly that he was totally naked.

Why it is that you PREFER, indeed CHOOSE... to put your faith in the Bible as the "word [from] God" that "speaks" to you... instead of in the Holy Spirit, who is the Son of God and Holy One of Israel?
Why did you add/change the word "[from]" when scripture is spoken of as "the word OF God". (A very JW trick to alter the meaning.)
Are you saying we should NOT put faith in the Bible.
About which Eph 6:17 says :
" . . . the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."
Also as Heb 4:13 says the "word of God is ALIVE and ACTIVE."
What would Jesus Christ, the Son of God, say about you view?

Evidence In Favor Of Bloodless Surgery Mounts

As medical procedures advance "bloodless" surgery would come about as a consequence of such advancement.
But it will not be totally "bloodless" as has been pointed out, fractions etc would still be used if needed. The Watchtower will probably mention this article about "bloodless" surgery as justifiying their stance on blood.
But just because the medical side are doing this, does not support the WT teaching on blood.
The WT say their teaching is based on the Bible. That Jehovah has forbidden the use of blood transfusions.
Even if the use of blood was the safest form of medical treatment with absolutely no risk. (Though no medical procedure is without risk)
The Watchtower would still have to prove by scripture alone, that the use of blood as a medical treatment was forbidden.
Would they then be able to do so, without pointing to any medical problems using blood might cause, to try and back that teaching.
Could they rely totally on what scripture says about blood?

I recall a sister in her 80's saying basically the same thing.
She was worried she wasn't able to do enough in service.
She was worried had she done enough to get through Armageddon!!
She had been a JW for 60 years!
How much more do they want her to do before enough is enough. -

Jws haven't visited some newbuilt block of flats
by badboy inso says one of fellow daycentre attendants.. they were built 6 months to 1 year ago.

Where I lived a few years ago it wasn't just new built blocks of flats.
They blocks were for a long time open to entry.
Then they installed security entrances, were you had to press the bell/intercom of a flat and ask for the main door to be opened.
Of course what happened was most times you never got answer from the anyone or they refused to open the door.
So we would just ry the main door to see if it was unlocked if not we left it.
In the end many JWs on field service just ended up never bothering calling on them again.
