I spent 20 long years in the society. The one thing they pounded into your head esp at convention time is honesty. Jehovah's people are the most honest in all the earth. Ex. found a wallet with a large sum of money, a years salary for this poor publisher yet they sought out the owner and returned it. This ex was in an awake from last year. I have just resently left the organization and Iam sorting so many things out. I have been told most of my life that you cannot trust the wordlings. My question is, Is there much honesty out there? Is this something unique to the organization?

I workout on a daily basis. I combine and aerobic workout(run 3-4 miles) with weight training. It helps to clear my head so I can think more clearly. The end result you are able to deal with things in a calmer fashion. I believe that physical fitness goes hand in hand with mental fitness.

When the CO makes his semi annual visit to the local cong the publishers like to donate $$ to the CO and his wife. I remember one cong I attended in Texas. It was the Mckinney cong just outside of Dallas. He was so upset that he did not recieve much $$ that in his final talk that sunday he said that when you shake his hand to have a $20 in it. I figure if each publisher gave $20 and there were 100 publishers that would be $2,000 tax free dollars. I bet they have a pretty good size nest egg. The co that just retired from my present Ex circuit just bought a nice house and has been traveling to Africa and other exotic places. It must be nice. They cry poor but I think that is far from the truth.

GREAT! I use to have such anger but Iam learning to let it go. It just takes time. I actually look forward to each day. I use to look at the days as meeting days and nonmeeting days. No life befor, so consumed with pleasing "the Society".

I have not written one yet and have looked into the reasons if I should. This applies to anyone who was batized in 1985 or later. The society made changes to the questions at baptism that year. The change was when you stood to ansewer yes they asked,Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witness in association with Gods spirit-directed organization.
They changed the question to give them the legal right to have total control over you. If you ever wish to leave the law of The united states will back them in that they can force you into a judical hearing or you must write a letter of disassociation. Thsi case was argued in the supreme court State ex rel.morrow v hill,364 n.f.2d 1156 (ohio 1977) and watsop v jones,80 u.s. 679,729
The courts said you forfeited any legal right and you come under the law of the association.
This makes me sick. Some of us want to walk away quietly but if they do not want to let you do that then you have to make a choice, disfellowship or disassociate.
Have any of you been put into the position of having to make this choice?

jw's view of dress code for women
by megaflower inthe dress code that the society imposes on the women has been a thorn in my side ( manner of speaking).
theses old men dictate how a women should dress and i do mean "a dress".
i can remember when i lived in connecticut and the temp would be in single digits and when it came time for field service you must put on that dress.

Disgraceful for a woman to speak?
by freedomfighter inif you are going to follow the bible like the jw's claim, then at least follow all of it !.
1 cor 14:34,35 " let the women keep silent in the congregations, for it is not permitted for them to speak, but let them be in subjection, even as the law says.
if, then, they want to learn something, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in a congregation.".

Well said!! I have known many stupid elders and m. servent. Heck, some could barely read. I attended one cong in Texas and it almost killed me to sit through a bible reading. My 8 year old son at the time could read better yet the women are considered beneath them. The women are there to serve the men, cook, clean and ____________.

I can remember when I lived in Connecticut and the temp would be in single digits and when it came time for field service you must put on that dress. They did allow you to wear boots. Oh my, how kind of them. It is a pet peeve of mine the way they would dictate such personal things. Yes, we must keep the sister modest. Pants are more modest and comfortable. It will be a loooong time before I ever wear a dress again if ever. Last year when the CO came he made a remark that the sisters are not to wear any spandex tops due to lack of modesty. Are there any other women who feel this way. The magazines would show the men and boys in either pants or shorts playing or hiking but the women were in dresses, pearls and pumps preparing food. The old farts only see women as ones to cook and clean. I have attended halls allover the US and the sisters are always the ones to cook the food for the co, pioneer school, hospility for the speaker. When it is time for your bookstudy to clean the hall the sisters did the bathrooms while the elder supervised.grrrr
