oh yea, they approached me about the shoes I wore. I do not like high heels . I will wear a max of an 1.5 inch heel. Iam an athlete so Iam use to athletic wear so it really hurts to wear those dumb heels. Also, our service terriotry is rural (farms etc). Who wants to step in cow poop with good dress shoes?

Were You Ever Counseled Because Of What You Wore (or didn't)?
by minimus inafter reading the thread about what is acceptable to wear and not wear in a factory run by jehovah's witnesses, i wondered whether any here ever got counseled or in trouble because of their fashion sense or attire.

I know that this is going to sound corny but I think of my husband as someone who I truly admire, love to spend time with, enjoy his wit and personality, love watching him be a father-very sexy, and he is my best friend. We married young and we are in our 28th year. I know that he needs my emotional support, someone to have listen to him, he can trust, love, have goofy fun with and just silent time. Sometimes it is the quiet times when we just are next to one another and there are no words spoken that are the most special. His eyes say it all.

When I read thru this I bet you could see the steam coming out of my ears. Iam so friggin tired of these pompous, self righteous men telling everyone what they can and cannot do. They have such lofty standards yet do not have the same for themselves. Hipocrates! I doubt if I will EVER wear a dress again. Iam so firggin sick of being told HOW, What, When, Where. They can stick it where the sun does not shine.

judgemental
by megaflower ini was wondering if many of you have felt the same way.
when i was a practicing jw i found myself either being judged or i found myself being overly critical of others.
it seemd the more miserable i became the more critical i was and i found this disturbing.

I was wondering if many of you have felt the same way. When I was a practicing JW I found myself either being judged or I found myself being overly critical of others. It seemd the more miserable I became the more critical I was and I found this disturbing. I did not like what I was turning into. I think the JW teach you to be overly critical of ones. For instance, do they measure up to you in:
1. meeting attendance
2.field service hours
3.comments at meetings
4.personal study
5.The way your family is viewed, children making fine progress in the truth
6. Reaching out for other responsabilities, quick builds, work where the need is great
I found that since I no longer attend I have lightened up a lot. Do any others feel this way or felt this way?

Hi,you might know my big sister..
by Firefox inim 19 and im still going to meetings.ive been sort of unhappy for a while.my older sister left the truth about 9 or 10 years ago.my brother was on her heels a couple of years later.ive been told that they were weak, selfish, posessed and drug addicts.i knew this wasnt true, they were both brilliant and caring of me.i havent spoken to them in at least 3 years.alot of gossip still circulates about them, especially sarah.she intimidated everybody and i suppose this is how they feel superior.. im rambling, sorry.im just overwhelmed.i ran into sarah at a walmart and she was radiant.i chatted her ear off for an hour and she hugged me when i cried.i told her i wanted out, that i know something isnt right but i m so scared.she suggested some of teh online groups to help.i guess she went to thomschat but thats not there anymore.she said my struggle would be different than hers because she never believed in the witnesses.i did.any advice or books to read or whatever you suggest,i just want to learn.she said crisis of conscience would probably help.okay thanks..

mr. Flipper-bravo for speaking out. I had a similar situation you spoke about and I was the young women too. A kind man spoke to me about 10 years ago and I always kept what he said in the very, very back of my mind. I was not ready to face the many truths he spoke of. I firmly believe that he was a large part in my breaking free from this cult. I ran into this man about 6 weeks ago and retold this event to him. He had tears in his eyes and have me a hug. So, you see you just planted a seed and one day you may see her again too.

Did You Consider Yourself a "Good Witness"?
by minimus inwere you considered by others as "the cream of the crop"?
.
did you view yourself as a pillar in the congregation or were you "spiritually weak"?.

most def. We were reg at meetings, studied, reg in field service. We volunteered our time in quick builds, helped others(mowed their grass, prepared meals, ran errands). We were the ones who always used our vehicle in service. We gave $$$$$.
