i just got a copy of the society's letter to dateline as to why they would not agree to an on-camera interview.. they said that since dateline told them that most of the people that they were interviewing considered themselves active jws, that for the headquarters to make a statement that it would make it appear as though "brother" was speaking out against "brother".
and that a nationally televised program was not the appropriate forum for them to work out their differences.
(this is interesting since the pandelos and barb have been dfed, haven't they?).
Jeff,
it can you post a scan of the letter?
Thanks

i would like to ask jws who are visiting here to go check their watchtower indexes for leo greenlees.
he was a member of the governing body, he also is the only governing body member whose disappearance from the gb is not documented in watchtower literature!
the announcement of the death, resignation or dismissal of every gb member can be found in watchtower publications except that of leo greenlees!!!
Bigboi,
thanks for the links.

Watchtower sinks to a new low.

you know, the society sure could use some advice from c.t.
russell.. "if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: but with god there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning., and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from god must be like its author.
a new view of truth never can contradict a former truth.
And about 100 years later...
However, it may have seemed to some as though that path has not always gone straight forward. At times explanations given by [us] have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But this has not actually been the case. This might be compared to what is known in navigational circles as "tacking". By maneuvering the sails the sailors can cause a ship to go from right to left, back and forth, but all the time making progress toward their destination in spite of contrary winds. Watchtower December 1, 1981Exit brightness... Enter tacking...
what is the key to leaving the witnesses?
seeing that there is no real difference between them as a group and any other religious group.. they claim difference and preach difference, but they do not live and practice difference.. oh yes, they will tell you, we don't vote, we don't do this, we don't do that, but get to know them as people and you find out they have political leanings and they pretty much live just like everyone else.. so, basically, their claim to being god's chosen people is just that, their claim.
they have no proof to back it up.
LOL @ Lisa

this was an interesting article yesterday.
probably doesn't set any precedents for jws, though.. ___________________________________________________.
ex-scientologist collects $8.7 million in 22-year-old case .
The Watchtower's day will come. They employ the same hardball tactics. But it's only a matter of time before a heavy judgement lands on their wicked asses. They've been partnering with groups the like of Scientology in cases tey know could be relevant to them. So they can see it coming.

repeatedly, the scriptures admonish jehovahs people to stay in wakeful anticipation of gods judgments.
the not so obvious reason being that we don't know exactly how jehovah's judgments are going to go down.
however, the ordering of events once the judgment commences should not be in question.
Almost there. You Know, why don't you send this stuff to Brooklyn? You're not afraid of delivering God's message, are you? Compile your works and send to Brooklyn. You could be guilty for not letting the light shine you know. But how can you be a source of truth, when you're not part of the anointed remnant?
*** Watchtower 1961 July 15 pp.431-2 Become Activated by the Spirit of Jehovah ****6 From a study of God's Word one appreciates that Jehovah does not dispense his dynamic energy through just any organization that chooses to label itself religious. Neither does God deal with individuals independently of his own wifely organization, the "mother" of all those dedicated to God. (Gal. 4:26) He has always had His channel of communication on earth through which his spirit operates. Remember how Miriam and Aaron tried to bypass this channel and almost lost their lives as a result? Only after Jesus had been baptized by Jehovah's representative did he receive holy spirit and strength to enable him to do his powerful works. (Num. 12:1-16; Matt. 3:16; Acts 10:38) By and through this holy spirit Jesus aided those associated with him so they could understand the truth, and so they too could receive power to "cure sick people, raise up dead persons, make lepers clean, expel demons." Thus is emphasized the importance of association with Jehovah's organization.-Matt. 10:8; Luke 24:45; 1 Cor. 2:10.
ok- lately i have been reading more and more posts and i see hildabinger and mystikool replying to posts supporting the wts.
are they active jw's counting time for repling to posts... am i correct?
is that why hilda's name is crossed out?
Hyghlandyr:Well a lot of folks think being an active JW means agreeing with everything the society says. I dont think it has to mean that. There are many JWs who are pushing for reforms. I think eventually they will get them and that will be pretty cool. One of those reforms is being able to read and post things others say.
As many active witnesses begin to see that known pro-Watchtowerites post on certain boards in defence of the Society, and that some Witnesses have set up websites to refute the reasoning of opposers, they become aware that there are some people at Bethel, and the writing department are looking at apostate sites while telling the rank and file not to. But one cannot help thinking there's a contradiction somewhere with a witness who remains trully active and visits boards such as this.

is the turning of people from the clergy to the psychiatrists a healthy phenomenon?
However, a dedicated Christian psychiatrist would need to be very careful not to unduly influence other Christians so that they would come to him for worldly wisdom instead of going to their overseers for heavenly wisdom. In fact, he would have to lean over backwards, as it were, so as not to imply that his psychiatry is a higher wisdom than that found in the Bible.
