  i was talking to a jw relative about the borg's claim that jws are the happiest people.

  she categorically denied that they ever made such a claim.

  does anyone have a reference?.

  Thanks a lot Blondie.

  She denied it while we were having a heated argument about the high prevalence of mental illnesses among JW. I told her one of the reasons was the "happiest people" claim, people who are depressed feel the need to hide it and she stated that "they never claimed that we are the happiest people instead they believe that we have great satisfaction by serving Jehovah". She was playing with semantics.

  For a minute, I thought that maybe I was wrong since I have drifted a long time ago.

  Missed college when you were younger? Here's a good solution!

  at my age i didn't want to spend the next 4-10 years going to college classes after work.

  i have mentioned this in a few popsts but wanted to share this on a new thread so that everyone can find out how easy and cheap it can be to go to college.. i am studying online with cuny (city university of ny).

  tuition is $2165 per semester if you take 4 or more classes.

  Great Thread.

  I did some CLEP for my Associate degree. I just finished my Masters last semester. Education can be a great tool for us (ex-jws).

  How have you benefited by leaving the WT Organization?

  this is just a curious study.

  i would love to get everyone's input on how each individual or couple has benefited from leaving the jw/wtbs as well as how their life is currently vs. being part of the organization.. eyes wide open .

  The benefits are countless, just to name a few:

  My life is no longer robotic. I can critically think about different subjects and topics. I get to choose my friends. I'm so content with my life, no longer feel like a hamster on a treadmill. Overall, the most benefit has been the opportunity to acquire more than 1 University degree since leaving.

  hi just to let everyone know my sister becky had a baby girl this morning, via c-section, thankfully no blood transfusion needed, so no difficult choice there altho i did say if she needed it, she better bloody well have it, its more of a sin to leave your children motherless than submit to a law which may or may not be inspired of god.. i dunno name maybe elizabeth, who knows, she has been known to change her mind!!!.

  ) very explicit details are asked of those being questioned.

  do others in the congregation know how detailed these meetings get?

  Some elders would share the details with their wives. Those wives might reveal these details to their friends and would spread like wildfire within the cong or the whole circuit.

  It is the most humiliating experience that anyone should ever go through.

  1914 and 1919 have to go!

  i was reading an interesting thread in the "best of" sub forum about how the wbts are referring to 1914 less and less in the literature.

  this thread was from 2001 (would love to paste the link here but i have serious technical difficulties with this site .

  i definitely see the society using the "silent dropping" technique referenced by ray franz and expect to see 1914 discounted completely in the near future.

  my parent's are both jws, i am still active and still believe i have the truth.

  Third, I enjoy making people laugh. And if I can still do it when or even after I die, that's great! With the comments in that thread, the dead guy was actually able to bring some smiles to people's faces after he passed on. That's quite an accomplishment! I only wish I can do so when my time comes.
