i spent 20 long years in the society.
the one thing they pounded into your head esp at convention time is honesty.
jehovah's people are the most honest in all the earth.
In the last 6 months about 5 people (all JWs) have totally screwed my husband and I out of money... Our own fault, we trusted people that I guess we should not have...
At a ton of the convention parts there are lectures on making sure to have a contract when doing business with other witnesses... I wonder why???

my wife, mrs. flipper and i were talking about getting an apostafest together for july 4th , 2008 weekend this summer.
this year the 4th falls on a friday, so it would at least be a 3 day holiday weekend when some may be able to get away !

it still seems like a dillema to me as the watchtower seems to teach whats in the bible really well, although these days i can see a few scriptures which have been twisted and deep down i have never trusted the new world translation.. but on the other hand the statistics dont seem to add up at all.for example since i have been in my congregation despite the inportance placed on jws to be out on field circus only the odd few accept mags on the doors all others just couldnt be bothered.my local congregation has not really grown and brought in the so called right hearted ones.the odd few have come in but mainly growth seems to come from jws that have left their country and come to britain esp from zimbabwe thats seems popular.in fact ive saw a number leave.. plus my book study group in my neighbourhood for tuesday evenings has not grown at all despite the odd study here and there and a few people having the mags.im im left thinking come on out of all the people in my area only this small group here is expecting to be saved and they arent anything special not any better than anyone else.. id like to know what if any growth in congregations others have seen and how many people respond etc?.
It depends, do they count inactive people as part of the 6 and 1/2 million?

i have an idea rattling around in my head and i am looking for some ideas on getting started.. thanks.
I own an online business and its a lot more work then you would ever expect. Can be very rewarding, however, a lot of work.
A couple of things to realize:
1. Having a great website does not make it automatically successful. It has to be advertised properly.
2. The more unique content that you have, the better. You will earn higher rankings on the search engine. Don't try to take a shortcut and just copy material because google recognizes copied material and won't help you in the rankings...
3. When you do write content, include top ranking key words within the content that people would actually search for in google to get your product.
4. Don't include more then about 5 or so keywords per page. Google is on to that trick...

Independent thinking... That's funny Gopher, cause an elder recently counseled me on doing "independent studing" cause I was doing a ton of studing for my bible studies but not enough time studing for the regular meetings...
Anyways, they have to say something that makes it so that regular JWs go by what the gov. body says instead of what we understand is written... I want to ask an elder what has replaced them having the holy spirit in that we should listen to them instead of ourselves...

Just remember folks -- they are guided / directed by the spirit -- but they are NOT INSPIRED. So when they make mistakes in teachings or prophecy, remember they are not inspired -- just directed. Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh. So, why do they say that we should listen to them and not just do what we feel is the right thing to do? I mean, before, they said that we should do what they say because the holy spirit was directing them. So, now, what do they say that sets them apart? I can't figure that one out... They have to say something...
