  well, after reading mr. flippers thread yesturday about stephen hassan, i decided i would like to talk to hubby about cults in general to see what would happen.

  Thank-you so much everyone for your replys!!! I will go over everything a lot more in depth tomorrow. Some things came up today unexpectedly so I haven't been able to research the information you have given me yet. But, thank you so much for it! I will let everyone know what I think of it tomorrow.

  Lol Oompa... Have you ever tried reasoning with her that even the society encourages asking questions - so therefore, both of you shoud me able to talk in a loving way over your issues with the JWs... When hubby fought with me on that - I just said it distanced me further from the JWs because it sends out a lot of red flags to me and I can't get to the root of my issues. Also, if he argues with me over issues instead of discussing them with me I tell him that my questions don't go away and it just distances me further. He's a lot more willing to talk with me about things when I reason like that with him...

  Well, after reading Mr. Flippers thread yesturday about Stephen Hassan, I decided I would like to talk to hubby about cults in general to see what would happen. I knew we couldn't go to this site because his walls would go up. So, we went to this one:

  We read the page together and talked about it. He said that he has always had a problem with the blood fractions thing and doesn't think that holy spirit is what appoints the elders and MS's (otherwise, he would have been appointed by now and my father wouldn't have been PO for all those years while abusing us at the same time...) He also doesn't believe that only JWs will make it into the new system. I was a little shocked by all this he said...

  He also believes that my family is brainwashed. (I think that's because he doesn't pay attention at the meetings, doesn't study and doesn't go out in service - he doesn't realize that most of the JWs have the same viewpoints as my family...)

  Anyways, any suggestions on other neutral sites we can go to about cults or anything like that???

  (BTW, thanks Mr. Flipper for that post! Very helpful!!!)

  as ive made it known on this board, my current status with the watchtower bible and tract society is that of inactive.

  this is a loophole i have utilized, to keep an open channel of communication with family members in the organization.. i want to clarify with everyone: i do not hold any doctrinal ideas, theology, ideology, opinions expressed in any form by the wtbts.

  therefore, to simply put, i do not believe in the wtbts in any way, shape, or form.

  why I don't flip off women drivers

  i was riding to work yesterday when i observed a female driver who cut right in front of a pickup truck, causing the driver to drive onto the shoulder to avoid hitting her.

  this evidently angered the driver enough that he hung his arm out his window and gave the woman the finger.

  'man, that guy is stupid,' i thought to myself.

  Do JW's now believe the year 2012 will bring armageddon?

  last weekend i was enjoing the good weather in holland with my mother and my kid sister, who still is a jw, on a terras, drinking a beer.. my mother always tries to tell something positive that happened at the cong or something that she read in the washtowel and then i react negative or not at all.

  it's a kind of game i don't know.. this time she said something like despite the fact that armageddon doesn't have to come during the generation of 1914, that does not mean that it isn't near... and then my kid sister reacted on this and said yes...possibly 2012.... i was pretty stunned... of this remark.. has anyone else heard something about the jw's now focussing on the year 2012?.

  neither of them could ever get along and i always played mediator.

  they fight and disagree on everything!
