We are up north of Toronto Canada and we have 10 foot snow banks right now. Its warmer today, 34 degrees but since Nov 15th we have had the worse winter in years. It snowed almost everyday and freezing also. I am SICK OF WINTER.

by Pioneer Spit...oh, i mean Spirit ini'm writing this because of a conversation i had with a co-worker who made it plain that she is anti-gun, 'guns kill people', yada yada.
she doesn't know that my gun is on me everyday, within just feet of her during the day, she still doesn't.
i'm writing this because i have seen a trait that's common to the anti-gun crowd, and it's a scary one.

Wow Pioneer spit thats a lot of guns. Have you watched the movie THE BRAVE ONE with Jodie Foster just out on DVD recently. Its a must see for those who wish to defend themselves with guns. A little over the top but interesting.

No I didn't see the movie. Can we rent it at Block Buster?
I had a big conversation with my boyfriend today about this and now I am totally confused. He is a atheist and believes in Scientific fact not Biblical. I obviously have not had deep thoughts about this before. Now I am very interested in investigating this.
I just didn't want to know anything about anything after I left the JW religion. I was fearful so I blocked out any conversation or thoughts of God, or anything like that. I obviously have been hiding my head in the sand.
I really am finding this Group stimulating and it is opening my mind to investigate and explore and not to be afraid too. hear things

Not any more but I used too.
They can't hurt me anymore even if they did for years.
I know now they aren't all powerful and that they don't have the truth and they can't dictate my life anymore.
it took years of being away before I came to the realization that the world wasn't going to end because I wasn't obeying the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

Need to vent & get advice....
by babygirl75 inmy sister, that is also df'd, just called me.
she has ms and it is starting to flare.
she keeps falling down because she doesn't have strength in her legs and her speech is starting to slur.

Oh I do feel bad for her.
He is horrible to be treating her like that especially when she is so vulnerable.
I especially can empathize with her because I just got diagnosed with MS in September. Its emotionally devastating to have this disease and it affects you emotionally.. I have problems walking, standing and have horrible balance problems. I feel so helpless at times and vulnerable and its very depressing. When you are in this position you REALLY need LOVE and SUPPORT. I don't know what I would do if my partner/fiance didn't support me so my heart goes out to her. She must feel so betrayed..

Since God is absent from earth's affairs, and there is substantial evidence that earth's life forms did evolve rather than being specially created as claimed in the Western Bible, I have for now come to the weak atheist conclusion that there isn't enough evidence for a creator-god. However I am open to overwhelming evidence to the contrary, such that "belief" in a god would no longer be necessary but it would be a fact -- such as God making himself obviously evident through some form of modern communication channel. Even that would have to be viewed with some skepticism. However if God's existence became a fact rather than a belief, I would not reject the fact.

GOPHER I really enjoyed your explanation. My fiance believes much like you do, but he has never been a JW or any religion. He feels science is proved fact and that the creation of the bible belief is faith and not fact. I really am interested in others views on this. I haven't got time right now to go into detail but there was a few things you said I really appreciated and if you go into this thread again tomorrow I will comment on it. I just walked in the door and its Friday and have to spend some time with my fiance.

Suggestion for the God
by watson inwhy don't you "abyss" the devil for a thousand years.
let everyone know how you exist and give us the basic principles you want us to live by, check in once in a while, and let it roll for a thousand years.
at the end of a thousand years working together, turn the devil loose for a couple months.

I wish we could ask God these kind of questions and get a straight answer!!!!!
Isn't that supposed to happen (the devil to be confined for a 1000 years) when God gets rid of all the wicked people. Maybe I have it wrong, I forget all my bible stuff. Its been 25 years and I have buried the bible teachings to protect myself from fear and guilt.
Why does it all have to be such a big mystery and we have to have imperfect men speculate or pretend they know the answers.

Thanks for the post about this Connaughty.
I think it will make some people think but if a person has it in their mind that it just "happened" they aren't going to change their minds because they just don't want to. Just like I will never change my mind that there is absolutely a creator even if I don't know him and I can't see him. Maybe its the fact that it was instilled in me by my parents and growing up as a JW. I think its scarey to think it just happened because what if something goes wrong and there is no one to fix it. Its also scarey to think that a All powerful God made all this and that we must answer to him.
It seems once we get a mind set people have a hard time changing. I think its the same with the witnesses, they have a mind set and they won't change even though the facts are in front of them.
Why do you Connaughty think people don't want to believe in a creator???
Why do some of you who have been Jehovah's Witnesses now believe there is NO creator? That means you have changed your mind set.
I am simply curious.
