Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw

i thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.

i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!

she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

My wife gives me anything I want in the Champaign room. The elders are very aware of what we do in the Champaign room but have been too spineless to do anything about it, namely because they cant prove from the Bible that anything is wrong.

Thats the difference between my wife and I, and the hard core JW. We beleive in the Bible not the WT Magazine, as the WT rag is only a tool in order to help you to come to an understanding of the Bible. WT magazine says that it is just a tool and Its all about balance. So thats they way we take it, and we try to ignore all of the WT doctrine that contradict previous WT magazines. Its just tool. Thats what I keep telling myself, and I get to continue enjoying the yellowbrick road with my family.

Im assuming many are unbalanced. no pun intended

really great to have you back réniaa, cant wait till we reach 10,000,000 JWs.

just keep your guard up, you dont have to give any info to any elder, if you dont want to, because its none of their business.

as for the previous poster, most of that is just a guidline, you can do anything you want so long as it agrees with what the Bible says, not the WT magazine.

I think a lot of people on this site really enjoy dwelling on negativity. They dont see all of the positive things that come from Jehovahs Witnesses.

The degree to which rules are laid down or applied vary greatly from Kingdom Hall to Kingdom hall, and it sounds like from your post you are in a very loving Kingdom Hall. Unfourtunately Im in a rules and regulations Kingdom Hall, not a loving one.

Emotional Reactions to the Loss of the Book Study

i think the loss of the book study will hit some like a death of a friend.

it will mark the end of an era.

it will forever change the religion of jehovah's witnesses and i believe the change is completely irreversible.. of course, most witnesses will be delighted by this.

Oh yeah, Im really going to miss getting dressed up in a suit and tie to sit on a hard plastic chair in the blistering heat of summer, to read a book.

Seriously, I feel like Jehovah made this change, were all too busy to read a book on Tuesday nights.

The statement about the comraderie and having time to socialize, well I dont think thats entirely true, most people file out as fast as they can, usually within 10 minutes. Weve got lots of time to talk and hang out during other times.

Have you ever seen a dog with his bone. What happens when you take the bone.

Seems you guys are trying to take away the bone that keeps the dog busy. It sure is nice to look forward to something, for some people.

My wife said she was really upset about this last study, she said nothing is new, there isnt any new light as is suggested. Weve known about the irregularities for a long time, how impossible it is to beleive in the generation doctrine. Its too bad they didnt just say, we have no idea what we are talking about, but in the end it would upset too many people. Equivalent to taking the bone.

Isn't nepotism and bias the main reason men are recommended for Eldership?

by RULES & REGULATIONS in

to be recommended for eldership you must first show yourself worthy through works, such as meeting attendance and participation, field service hours and having the "right attitude" (meaning they are organization men).

many ms will become elder's shadows, in hopes to be recommended by them for eldership.

nepotism and bias runs in my congregation.we have 4 elders who are all related.

Seems to be with our congregation that all of our Elders have money. They have nice houses, cars and material things.

I think they put the idea out there; "if you say your prayers and be a good boy, you gonna have money and be an Elder." That seems to be the case with just about every congregation I have been in.

Of course sometimes there is one truely zealous Elder, with no money, but that's rare.

i received an email from my sister in law.

she was relating an experience given in a talk at an assembly.

a young couple wanted to have children, but they couldn't conceive, so they decided to adopt a child.

Emotions!

i'm wondering how many people really understand others with emotions as opposed to people who don't.. for example:.

my wife would passively consider an emotional thing whereas i dwell on it for days.. i posted a video of les mis.

how many would actually see the post, click the post, close their eyes, and listen to it?.

Hey Buddy,

You should read "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman. Its a great book on feelings and your whole range of emotions.

Once you know and understand why it is that you do what you do, you can work on helping that part of you. It explores several ways for dealing with your emotions. Great book, it has helped me immensely.
