too late for your situation, but i'd treat her as i've come to treat my jw family: leave religion, the truth, jehovah (and the rest of that jw baggage) out of all conversations... unless they bring it up.

Jesus sweating blood
by Simon injust watching a programme about the gospel accounts and one thing struck me - the notion that jesus sweat blood.
apparently it was the stress of his impending death.. now, as a sceptic, the problems i have with this account are:.
it's medically impossible to sweat blood.. there is a disease (hematohidrosis) where plasma cells can color the sweat to make it appear to be 'as if blood'.. jesus was supposed to be perfect!

Let's say it is possible to sweat blood and lets agree it comes from the worst kind of stress imaginable as the Jesus folk would have us believe...
One last thing...they always tell us how thew Bible is inspired because of the honesty and candor of its writers....
So before he sweated blood did he shit in his pants too?

Simon, Waiting and Sean,
I guess it comes down to why you want to ignore someone - whether they post things that are of no interest or if they post things that we don't really want to see. The ignore feature would work for the former but not the latter.
There is another piece of the puzzle being missed. Once posters know that other posters have the ability to ignore them it ceases being fun to stoke the fires and it ceases being fun to be a troll because you expect to be IGNORED. The stirring immediatley decreases. Additionally, whiners are told by the rest of the board to use the IGNORE feature when someone is upsetting them, so the complaining grows less too. Will it work in an XJW community - hell I don't know. I understand there is very little backing down in a place like this and to use an IGNORE feature is in a sense a way to back down. Seems many here have a chip on their shoulder and are always interested in setting things straight...heaven knows but I believe the Tina/Prisca flame war that has carried on for so many month would have been dead in its tracks LONG ago and we would not have the situation we currently have.
These are just my thoughts and input....take it or leave it. Until it has been tried we won't know. But it will give YOU a tool Simon...you will have a canned response to many issues: "Have you used IGNORE on person X?"

Simon,
You need a computer to do things you are not capable of yourself or you make the system operate in a way to save you time, effort and aggravation?
Can I ignore idiots? Who were we talking about?
Do you use a paper and pen to do all your finances? (or bravo a computer because it saves you effort)
Do you perform boring repetitive tasks? (or if you are able to do you use a machine to do them)
I like discussion forums where they save me time, effort and annoyance. Long live the Orwellian Machine!!!
That's my 2 cents.

Waiting,
If you have a *real* ignore button.....what's the use of being on a discussion board? That's not really discussing - that's agreeing with those who agree with you - and banning those you don't like.
No there is a big difference. I can ignore the people that annoy me. I will give you an example.Look at Perry. We are on totally different sides in our views (yes we DISAGREE) but I would never ignore him for that. I love his viewpoints and the discussions and the debates.
Shit-stirrers (tolls and flamers) on the other hand go get put on IGNORE. It works on other boards such as Yahoo (one of the biggest message boards in cyber space).

Simon,
Please tell me the new board will have the capability of using the software to IGNORE others (both on threads and in chat).
