The Jesus myth was written in the 1st or 2nd century while the mentioned Dionysus myth was written in the 19th or 20th century.
This is likely similar to that Horus thing in the Zeitgeist movie. Sounding nice, but being outstanding nonsense.
for those of you who have already done research on this, have you been able to find information that proves jesus was based on dionysus?
do we have proof that any of the following was written prior to 1st century: dionysus turning water into wine, born of a virgin mortal, sent by zeus to save mankind, dead and resurrected (or any of the other parallels).. note: i'm agnostic/atheist, but i'm still curious about the historical details.
was dionysus based on jesus, or is it the other way around????

has anyone found differences between watchtower articles found in bound volumes and its corresponding one in the watchtower cd?.
or between different versions of the watchtower cd's..
There have alwys been various dicussions about this. It seems that the CDs always contain the latest printed version. Some of the articles were altered in the bound volumes or other reprints, and in this case the new version is on the CD. Also for the books, the CD always contains the latest version.
So far, no one has found an article that has been changed specifically for the CD - where the CD would be different from any printed version.
i don't know if anyone has ever posted this beautiful gem of a paragraph but page 25 paragraph 3 states:.
3 if that happens to you, how will you react?
many people know that their way of worship is wrong, yet they hesitate to break free from it.
This brochure doesn't even exist in German (though it was published in English in 2002). So much for the worldwide unity.
at my moms i watched the video in croatian and as i waited for the now famous "sparlock" line...it was replaced by "mitadoor.
" there is no grammatical reason why they cant use the name sparlock....perhaps for legal reasons as a company has that name....and ofcourse you guys made it famous on youtube!
!.
In German it's "Sator" (somewhat similar to "Satan" and "Thor").
since when is the so called "new light" (about the fds) published on the news-section of the officially website jw.org instead of in the study edition of the watchtower?
the wts use of internet has dramatically changed.
strange effect of this new "marketing" policy is that the annual meeting news at jw.org only available is for english speaking people with a computer and an internet connection.
Well, nothing has really changed.
Previously, the "new light" was published first on JWN - also "only available for English speaking people with a computer and an internet connection". Like with the FDS doctrine change, they only made the status quo official.
just had a quick read through the new 16 page edition of the watchtower, and noticed an article about able who was adam's son.
the article said in part.
abel speaks to you today.
was I a complete heretic
No. Current doctrine is that the "creative days" may have lasted "considerable lengths of time." (Was Life Created, p. 26) " The Bible’s creative days allow for thousands of years of time each. Further, the earth was already in existence before the creative days began." (Awake! Jun 8 2002, p. 10)
did anyone else notice the artwork change on page 12 and on page 83?
im new to this and cannot get the pictures to upload....but if you have a copy of the book and compare it with the pdf online, there is definitely a change.. what qould cause them to to this?.
i would be interesting to see if there were any changes to the wording of the paragraphs.
Interestingly, the German "2012 printing" edition contains the original text on page 84. Mentioning that the Bible Students were right only in the 19th century ;)

the empty page in this other version indicates a copyright issue
Forget this. This version is without pictures at all, for whatever reason.

During the 19th century, sincere Bible students calculated that the waiting period would end in 1914.
During the 19th and 20th centuries, sincere Bible students progressively discerned that the waiting period would end in 1914.
