... if she will prove me from the bible accuracy of 1914. and i stressed i really mean it.. we had one of the usual evening discussions and this was the result.. she said she is not ready for this and must do some preparation and aditional study (which is funny for somebody raised up in a hard-core jw family, baptized over 25 years, who spent over a decade in regular pioneering, reads wt for hours every week and have brought several people into jw cult...).

but ok, she pulled out several publications and is doing her preparation now and tonight we will have the discussion.. to motivate her i told her:.

1) if you will be succesfull i will go to preach to everybody in our street about 1914/607 during my pioneering.

Secrets?

isn't it strange how something all of a sudden hits you smack between the eyes - even after being presented with the same 'raw' data for years?

(i was baptised in 1971.).

i've realised in all the organisations to which i've ever belonged (there have been a few) - only the jws keep their rule books (whatever you might like to call them) a closely guarded secret.

today my 15 year old daughterand i went to the local craft fair, went to olive garden for lunch, then ran over to ross to shop a little, and as we were walking out of the store, low and behold, who was coming straight at us??.

One thing I learned after I left (I'll admit it took me a while) is a simple thing. I'm not bound to their rules anymore.... as simple as that.

I now take the opportunity to talk to the 'shunners' - the more public the better. If they want to make a spectacle of themselves then it's more grist to the mill! If they want to 'blow their top' then they can. All you've done is be pleasant and, dare I say it, HUMAN! Let them defend themselves to their public in their ministry.

Now, I appreciate, it's easier for an adult than a 15 year old. But, don't be bound by their rules.... live by yours! Let them have the problem - don't take it to yourself!

all this kerfuffle over the year 607 threw up an interesting side issue for me.. some posts relate to the wts use of chronology derived from ctrussell's "divine plan of the ages" and "studies in the scriptures".

within those pages are found some explanations of how the years 1874 and, later, 1914 were 'decided'.

it seems there was a remeasuring of a particular tunnel within the great pyramid of gizeh which was, subsequently, found to be 40 inches longer.

BB - sadly you're quite right. The youngsters don't care. Unfortunately, I found your analogy a bit off. I could agree up to a point but the whole foundation of 1914 is wrapped around CTR's appraisal of the Pyramid. That year has become pivotal to the whole JW doctrine. Sadly, many will ignore the fundamental reasoning of CTR because it's "old light". But, that "old light" gave them what they use today which is quite dissimilar to a political party's history which would have been repealed. Or, perhaps, I misunderstand you.

Wobble .... funny you say that. I've just remembered three 'bros' discussing the difference between the year count we have now (2009) and the Jewish reckoning of years. And how this may affect the 1975 prophecy! Of course it was never thought about by the GB... this was befoe the Elder arrangement.... should've wised up myself then - only 38 years ago.

Finallysomepride - didn't think your were being disrespectful at all. It was ne of those musings that crosses my consciousness sometimes...thought I'd share it.
