I really feel bad for you. I went through a similar experience when my daughter got married. She married a "worldy man" and the ceremony was performed by a preacher from the church her husband attended. Even though they got married in a park on a Saturday, only 3 of my friends from the K H was there. And actually that surprised me. Then a couple of weeks later I get a call from an elder who says I should not have asked the 3 that were there to come and help at the reception. They were guilty of taking part in a religous ceremony. I just could'nt believe it. For one thing they volunteered their help, so apparently they did'nt see a problem with it.And the whole wedding ceremony lasted maybe 10 min. There was'nt even anything mentioned that was of a religous nature. Oh well, that's just part of the control the org. tries to keep on us.And that's part of the reason I'm no longer in it.But hang in there. Your Dad will be the loser in the long run because he will miss out on your happy day.

Have I become like those I despise?
by Hortensia inwell, yes, as a matter of fact.
i have become a desperate, needy, clingy burden on my friends, so depressed i don't know what to do.
every day i say, pull up your socks, put one foot in front of the other.

Would YOU Remain A JW If You Thought The Watchtower Could Be Reformed?
by minimus inpersonally, i don't think the organization is reformable.
while i was an elder, i tried to be a more moderate voice and as i grew older any harsher attitudes disappaited from within me.
as they say, all the good (and smart) elders have left.

I really don't know for sure, but I don't think so. There are to many bad memories . And if you still had to preach, well I just can't do that anymore, so I guess my final answer is No.

I just have another comment about the poem. I have a daughter who is happily married. But before she met her husband had dated 3 different "Witness guys. The first one was a wimp, they had sex in my house, you name it they did it. The second was on drugs. That was alot of fun for me! The third was very abusive to her and also introduced her to more drugs. Now these were all from decent Witness familys. The first ones mother was my best friend,. Sad to say that has changed forever, anyway, back to my point and that is, she now has a husband who treats her like a queen, they have a little baby girl with another one on the way ,and they go to church and are happy together. He's not aWitness and never will be, so which one do you think I'd choose for my daughter. I'll let all of you figure that out. So called worldly men can make very good husbands.

The poem sucks! I married a "Witness" and my life as been a living hell. As both of my children can testify to. They are the only good thing that came from this so called good "Witness" man.

Be there for your friend! And be glad she still will have something to do with you. I have no friends left really. Something that really pisses me off is how Witnesses use a funeral as a time to preach! I've been to a few where the biggest part of the family were not Witnesses and they had to sit there and listen to a 30 min. sermon. That's not the time for one if you ask me. You have my complete support.

What I'd like to know is this, If you still believe what the Witnesses teach then why don't you go to the meetings anymore? I am not trying to judge you or anything like that but it just seemed a little bit odd to me.
