Wouldn't the death of three suffice?
by AK - Jeff inwhy would a so-called 'loving' god put mankind through millenia of time, untold suffering, death to billions of mankind, all over the sin of a naked lady eating an apple without permission?.
how could his need to 'fulfill justice' or whatever theological argument is presented to justify such time to pass before correction - ever equal the pain it has forced mankind to endure?.
why did he not just kill one man, one woman, and one snake-imitating fallen angel - wipe the slate - and start fresh?

Salvation Army - JW's don't donate, but would they accept help
by Bonnie_Clyde ini just did a quick search on the wt cd and confirmed that that jehovah doesn't approve the salvation army.
but would a jw accept help from them just like they will accept help from the red cross?.
btw, clyde has been asked to do a little bell ringing.

Did you Have One " Power Controlling " Elder in your Congregations ?
by flipper ini believe many congregations had one, if not 90 % of the congregations i attended.
there seemed to always be one elder that dominated over the other elders and incredibly - in spite of the arrangement being called a " body of elders " many times it seemed that one elder would arise and take control over the other elders.
the other elders would roll over and bow essentially to these power elders.

Oh yeah, I've posted this story on other threads but it's worth repeating. When my daughter was in a "back room" meeting with the elders this one arrogant ******* told her to show respect to him because when she was talking to him it was like she was talking to Jehovah. I wanted to slap his ugly face. I think that was the beginning of the end of my association with the KH.

i don't remember how often they were, but thinking back on them, boy does it seem silly!

What did you look like as a JW?
by highdose ini was going through some old photos today, i found one of myself when i was a devout jw.
it was really shocking!
i'm so thin, my cheeks are hollow, i'm as white as the wall behind me, i'm standing hunched over, and in my eyes you can see real misery.

As a JW Did you Feel " Guilted " to go to Meetings /Service if Injured /Sick ?
by flipper inmany people in the jehovah's witnesses , older ones, younger ones have been expected to pioneer, go in field service with physical disabilities and are even considered "martyrs" if they push themselves to their physical capacities beyond reasonableness .
thus many witnesses feel sick, exhausted, tired, and essentially fight depression due to high expectations to " burn out " for the wt society.
have any of you experienced this while in the witnesses ?.

I went so many times when either I or one of the kids were sick simply because of the guilt I'd feel if I stayed home. I look back now and realise how stupid that was.
I just in the last few days got in contact with a young man with severe emotional problems that back years ago was even worse. And he told me how hard it had been for him to give talks and go out in service but he was made to feel so guilty if he did'nt do it. That is so wrong. He's out now though and happier thn he has ever been and so am I.
