How many of you knew this?

for some time now i have been of the opinion that those who believe in the bible are extremely near sighted, and are not looking at the big picture.

That's very interesting! I've often wondered about something that you maight be able to help me with. Wit.talk about the creative days as being 1000 yrs long and that supposedly we've only been in existance for 6or 7 thousand years. But there indications in the scientific world of billions of years of existance for certain animals and plants etc. Whatis your thought on that?

Told My Mom- "Dad's Got Too Much Load on Him as a 82 Year Old Elder "
by flipper inthis is kind of a secondary thread to the one i started about my conversation with my mom the other day about the bethel thing with my older brother !
so, my mom starts talking with me about my dad 82, an elder in the congregation for 53 years being drained and exhausted , and stressed as he has no help in his book study he conducts !
as some of you know , my sister, who lives near my parents just had a stroke , and my mom and dad have been having to help her out with her house, feed the cat while she is in physical therapy - and drive down an hour one way to see my sister in physical therapy , a lot to do for them being 80 and 82 !

Mr> Flipper, Just read your post about your Dad. And so sorry about your sister. Your right about so much being expected of the older ones. And there is really no appreciation shown to these ones. Oh they moght be mentioned once in a while in a prayer or something, but what they need is help. Let someone else carry the load for awhile. But no, that would be a sign of spiritual weakness!!! My nephew, also an elder has talked my 71 year old Mother into pioneering this month. Never mind the fact that she works hard cleaning houses, does all of his laundry, and feeds half the cong. I guess I'm on a roll, but it all really pisses me off. Anyway, good luck to you in getting help for your Mom & Dad.

Field Service time
by crapola inhow many of you did like i did and sometimes added a little more time to our report than we actually had?
i felt so bad when i maybe had only one hour so i would put down maybe 3. you know there was all the incidental witnessing!
i'm so glad the pressure is off and i can enjoy a saturday at home doing nothing.it seems kinda strange that a person would even need to turn time in, just do what you felt you could do and don't be obligated to let anyone know how much it was.

Discipline
by LouBelle ini'm not a parent myself, so i'm only speaking from my own personal experiences as a child and as an observer.. do you or don't you believe in discipline?
i believe in it - i'm not talking beating your kid to a pulp or any verbal abuse like that.
i do believe that a smack, grounding and an explanation of why is not a bad thing if the child has misbehaved (not for some trivial thing either).

I think if children were disciplined in the right way, there would fewer problems as teenagers, but who can say what the right way is. Guess it differs for all children. When my 2 kids were growing up I used to spank them and took away some of the things they liked to do. But I found out that a good old fashioned spanking with abelt or flyswatter did more good than anything. My son reads this site, so he will get a kick out of remembering that. Anyway, they are both now really well adjusted adults with kids of their own and they turned out just fine, so spank away. It does'nt hurt a thing.

I,too used to sit at the meetings and look around and wonder if anyone else hated being there as much as I did. I would look at the old bros. and sis. and know that they thought Armegeddon would come anytime now, but where was it. I practically grew up in one cong. and saw many old people die still saying it was right around the corner. Was I going to also be old someday and still saying the same thing? I don't think so.It's so bogus. There is so much that does'nt make sense. And thank goodness my son has helped me see that.I also hated going in service. I one day met a man in service that had left it a few years earlier and I left his house that day so envious of him because he had the courage to leavr and here I was still knocking on the doors and not beleiving half of what i was saying.I'll never do it again! I also hated going to assemblies. Those long days of setting all day long till you thought your butt would never be thst same and listening to the long and boring talks. I honestly don't know how i did it.There's much more but I'm sure you all have heard itall before, so bye for now. I would messages from anyone out there and I'll be sure to answer.

Well, I faced the music so to speak with dear old Mom last night. I'm giving up my eternal life! HA I've heard that the Big A is right around the corner since I was 5 yearsold. Like to scared the crap out of me when I was young. Them it finally got to the point of what the heck! That's the longest darn corner I've ever seen.I'm just trying to survive this change and at least live the last half of my life in some sort of peace. I'm tired of feeling scared shitless! Whoops! I'm sick of having to prove to everyone elsa that I'm a good person. You don't have to go to all those meetings to be a good person. All that matters to me right now is that my kids are happy and good adults and my grandchildren will not have to face what my poor kids did growing up as Witnesses. I'm going to enjoy their birthdays, which as far as I can see were very happy events and I can see no reason what so ever for not acknowledging it.
One thing that does bother me is the fact that my Mom is getting old and I don't like knowing that I've hurt her. She is really sincere in what she beleives and thinks I'm going to die.But i can't live my life anymore to please her.

Hey, thanks for all the advice. Just wanted everyone to know that my daughter left theOrg, married a very good man and now goes to church and is happier than ever. Has a10 month old baby girl and another one on the way, so her decision to leave this mess has worked out great for her.
