  washington (reuters) - u.s. senators argued on wednesday over whether the conflict in iraq was becoming another vietnam and some republican supporters of president bush suggested he consider extending a june 30 deadline for the handover of power there.

  O.K., let's say Mexico was led by a very bad man who has not obeyed U.N. demands, let's say that Mexico's President has in the past used WMD against his own people. Let's say that the President of Mexico also tried to have George Bush senior killed.

  Let's say that years later, Canadian terrorists attack the U.S. A horrific attack that shocks the world.

  What should we do, invade Canada with limited forces and go hunting around for our attackers and after failing to find their leader decide to attack Mexico because afterall Mexico was a bad country and was not listening to the U.N.?

  Does this make any sense? Yes, to President Bush it does!

  Well, all I see is that President Bush and his Administration diverted our military and our resources to invade a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. Ironically, because of this President Bush has probably created more terrorists than Osama could ever hope for.

  The Republicans had Clinton impeached for far less serious damage to our country. I would be for the impeachment of President Bush if it turns out that Iraq was just his way of blowing off some steam because of his father and whatever other cowboy intentions he may have had not excluding commercial interests. And no, I not consider the label of "cowboy" for our President a positive one, as I understand some Americans do.

  Also, I must say this and I don't mean to offend anyone here but I feel it must be said. To all those who feel the Iraq war is a good thing, that it was right and it is fighting terrorism. Are you encouraging your sons and daughters to sign up and go fight? If you could, would you yourself volunteer and go fight in Fallujah? If you do, don't forget to go buy yourself some body armor etc. because those boys and girls fighting your war may not have enough going around to share with you.

  Gospel of John - Why no Emblems, no Bread and Wine?

  since today is the memorial i thought it would be a good time to ask this quesion: why is it that the gospel of john does not include the passing of the bread and wine representing jesus' blood and flesh?

  of all the gospels, john's goes into the greatest detail of jesus' last evening with his disciples yet he omits the passing of the covenant emblems.

  and of all the gospels you would think john's would include that since his is filled with more symbolic and mystery material than the rest.

  I sincerely thank everyone for their thoughts. My feeling is that the writer of the Gospel of John must have been opposed to the bread and wine ceremony. This ceremony was too important to the Christian congregation in Paul's day for the writer to not include it in his Gospel just because the Synoptics had included it already. Especially if, as many Christians believe, the Gospel of John was written by the Apostle John himself, an eyewitness to the events of that night. Of all the particulars of that night, surely the covenant agreed upon would have been the high point of the evening! Yet it is missing from the Gospel of John.

  The question most Christians need to consider is: do the Synoptics represent the true Jesus or does the Gospel of John represent the true Jesus? Also, Mark's avoidance of the birth narratives coincides with Paul's warning of not looking to geneologies and the stories old women tell.

  We Christians need to sift out the improbable from the probable, in my opinion.

Yet he leaves out the most treasured symbolism of all, the ceremony of the bread and wine.

  I would be very interested in hearing some opinions on this.

  and according to his guestbook post he has signed his real name to the letters!

  In his March 28 mailbag E-Watchman has announced that his NGO letter has recently been sent to 400 Canadian Kingdom Halls!

  If nothing else this must certainly be raising the annoyance and pressure levels in the Branches.

  I think each person should do what they feel is best for family and their circumstances.

  Either way, if we attend or not, we do not "sin". Do what is best for your family and to keep peace with those you love.

  i've had that happen with a woman before and it made me start wondering... how often does this happen to people who get married after being abstinent?

  From my point of view it all has to do with LOVE! If LOVE is there then everything else falls into place and there is no need to worry about chemistry etc.

  LOVE provides the chemistry and everything else!
