That isn't fair though, she has a lot more experience in politics than being married to the president. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about Obama... but to imply her only real experience was as a simple wife really invalidates all the hard work she has put in to be where she is.

Well, it might work on dumb people! (and you can call me Aly- everyone can. That username was just taken already)
eta: I am not "from" Arkansas, so I don't really know any more about her than anyone else. We lived here as JW's years ago, but only a couple months this time around now that I'm actually interested in politics.

nvrgnbk- good to know. I've never mixed the two, I've grown accustomed to drinking patron straight over the years. A friend introduced me to the vodka and grapefruit juice at her house. The vodka was so much better than the vile stuff we drank as teenagers though so I need to ask her the brand.
Crumpet- which episode? Sometimes when DH has it on I busy myself in a book and only see bits and pieces. I'm thankful to say I missed that one. But I was not lucky enough to miss the sheep balls (was it a sheep?)- now that one was vile.

nahh, I have a few friends with masters education and above who are also wealthier than me who are voting for Clinton in the primaries. Silly presumptions that mean nothing.
I don't want to get into what reasons I'm voting Obama... because I'm plum sick of having this conversation with my girlfriends. But I don't think either candidate indicates a lack of education or critical thinking skills.

funny what can happen if they think you are an elder...true sex story
by oompa ini started to put this in the great thread here on weirdos in your hall which i have so enjoyed, but there was a bit more story to it.
there a pitiful little hunchback young man of about 25 that was soooooo introverted it was really sad.
so he calls my house to speak to my elder dad, and i answer the phone.....unfortunately, at 15, i sounded a lot like my dad, and as soon as i said "hello" he blurts out...."brother oompa, i just wanted you to know i have gotten rid of all my pornography, and am going to really try to work in harmony with my prayers to stop masturbating.

A111-
I think people just mean that this poor man shouldn't have been made to feel evil because of natural human urges. They are biological, give the poor man a break- that is all. -

Chiropractic
by sass_my_frass ini have always suspected that chiropractic is a total crock.
the concept that having your backbone crackled a little bit every month will control your blood pressure, cure your asthma and keep you mobile and flu-free until you're 120 seems farfetched, and yet all my life every time i have had a headache i have been inclined to set up an appointment.. i've really only been in serious pain three times; some bad neck pain which cleared up after a depressing relationship, some lumbar pain from a bad lift incident which cleared up after three weeks of wiggling around on a fitball while i was watching tv in the evening, and some weird shoulder pain which cleared up when i rejoined a gym.
i have wasted a lot of money for many years - chiropractic just wasn't there for me.

I've used them from time to time since one of my dear friends is a chiro. I think much of is is quack practices (especially NAET and such) but I know my husband (who is extremely physically active and in great shape) gets some temporary knee relief when his knee starts acting up. When I went with tingly/numb fingers that wouldn't go away she fixed it within 10 minutes. I left feeling better and the problem didn't return. But I wouldn't go for just anything.
I have another friend who left his chiro practice and went back to college after deciding it was all false. My friend who is an active chiro, well I love her to bits and she really really believes in what she does. I don't think she intentionally misguides for profit.
I really do not believe in much that doesn't have science around it, and things like the laser that affects you on a "cellular level" simply don't have science behind them. I really think Chiropractors need to start working more in the science behind what they do and contributing to the medical community if they want to be taken seriously.
We're at a time now with technology that Neurophysiologists do have methods of recording the passage of impulses in nerves. They can actually read and understand the nerve impulses in a body, but as of yet there are no definitive studies on how the "subluxations" affect the nerves. The amplitude? the wave pattern? The frequency? Yes they are interconnected, but how really do they relate and to what degree?
I just think we're at a point in technology that these claims need to be backed up with solid data. We should be able to hook someone up, see the nerve interference- adjust them- and see the interference removed if chiropractic is going to be taken to the next level and be accepted as a factual science. We have the technology for this... so it is time we used it or acknowledged that we don't really understand chiropractic. And chiropractors haven't been able to detail how it works in a scientifically accepted way... that highly discredits them to me.

PO kids
by memphisbelle inthis is pretty amazing !
this girl is the daughter of a man who was a major elder in a local cong.
for years, he had no problem telling anyone within earshot how to raise their children, and tel them what they were doing wrong, and what wonderful pioneer - missionaries his kids were going to be.

I see the account, she seems worldly now, and openly so. She doesn't seem really "bad" by worldly standards, I think myspace is just the place to focus on that side of us ;) I wonder if her Dad is humbled?
