Newbie, that's one smart man you've got there. The "headship" issue was one of the first things I brought up for discussion with our dub friends. They were a bit surprised when I pointed out that the WT use of the Timothy scripture to support keeping women out of leadership roles also says that women should not "teach", but when most of the folks going door to door are women that is contradictory. Makes no sense to use one bit of the scripture and disregard the rest. When I asked hubby at home what he thought of the headship issue he said he felt we were equals, he doesn't see himself as being "over" me, that he values my opinion and we make our decisions together. Mega, good for your guy! -Potential

The ongoing saga between Princess Boo Hoo and the Queen of Guilt
by Princess Daisy Boo inmy mom and dad live about 40 minutes drive away.
i am avoiding seeing them and land up making silly excuses not to drive over there, even on a long weekend like this one, just because i do not feel like dealing with them - dreading dealing with the kids mentioning easter eggs, or a guilt trip about the memorial.
avoiding dealing with the fact that mom is hurt because of what i told her.

Tragic. I'm so sorry you have to go thru this, princess. There are many reasons "regular" folks avoid seeing their parents, but it's sad when you actually want to spend time with them, but feel you can't because of the dub issues. I've never experienced shunning, but it seems to me you should be thankful you still have any kind of connection with your parents. Look at poor Jamie- she would probably love just to hear her mom's voice on the phone... -Potential

Freedom- So sorry to hear of your loss. There is really nothing to say, but think of the good memories you have of your loved one, and try not to let your anger at things you cannot control overshadow what you should be focused on at this time. Peace and Love, Potential

Hmmm...I think someone covered this, but nowhere in the Bible does it say anything about the remembrance being limited to any certain number or group of people. It is almost blasphemous to NOT partake- like denying that He shed His blood and sacrificed His body for us. Also, why commemorate the Lord's supper, but not His resurrection???? -Potential

Wouldn't alien abductees be more likely to be members of a Scientology congregation?! And, do tell, were there abductees in your congregation? -Potential

Sirona- keen observation. I bet the dubs would cringe at the thought of that being true! I personally prefer the Black Sabbath that Ozzy fronts. :0 -Potential

Women - Do You Know What Men Really Want in a Relationship ?
by flipper inno, it's not just sex !
lol!
contrary to popular opinion !

I'm with AlyMC- we're all individuals, so it's hard to say what "men" in general want.
JK, you cynical sexy bastard, we ain't all like that, but I know there are some that are.
my man likes to know that I'm listening when he talks, and really hearing what he says. He loves when I flirt with him and let him know how sexy I think he is. He likes when I take an interest in what he's doing, whatever that may be. He likes when I let him win an argument every once in a while- lol! He loves when I give him a foot, back, or any other kind of rub. He likes it when I do that little extra something that shows I'm thinking of him, like sending a quick and sexy text message, or picking up a nice bottle of wine. He loves that we can be happy just watching wrestling together (yes I do!) or whatever, we don't have to constantly be on the go. He thinks it's cool that after 20 years together we are so in tune to each other that we think alike, can finish each other's sentences, and tell what the other is thinking before they say it. -Potential

I had no idea. This is incredibly sad. Not only for those experiencing it, but also for all of America, because our media isn't covering this. I've harped for years about the poor coverage of the Iraq war and how if we were shown more about what goes on there there would be such an outrage from the common folks war would be over! Think about Vietnam- I was only a kid at that time, but I remember seeing images of soldiers in the field EVERY night on the news. Disgusting. As Oldflame said, billions on the never ending war, but not a crumb for those in desperate need. -Potential

How Many Here Are Born Again Christians Now?
by lovelylil injust wondering how many ex -jw's have become born again christians and whether or not this happened while you were still in the wt organization?
also, what is your experience now with god and christ?
** please non-believers, lets not use this thread to bash christianity again, or do the whole is there god/not god discussion all over again.

Well, as you know, I never was a dub. But I am and have been a born again Christian for many years. I am thankful that some of those of you who were "in" weren't so bitter about the experience that you couldn't believe in God any longer. I know some of the folks here have become atheists because of the negative effects of the cult, and to me that is the worst damage of all. PTL that y'all have found the real truth in Jesus! Peace and Love, Potential.
