runningman's post on the fallacies of the watchtower reasonings started me thinking on the gb's stand on higher education.
i am impressed with the superb thinking ability of many who post here.
unclebruce, stephanus, victor_e, gamaliel, blondie, undisfellowshipped, and machislopp to name just a few.
My parents took quite some flak from the elders for letting me attend college. And heaven forbid I wanted to do biology, where they taught the evil doctrine of evolution.
My parents stood their grounds and I am ever grateful for that. They gave me the chance they were denied themselves!

first, i never was a jw, but since a dear friend of mine is one, i'm here to learn from the human elements in order to give her quiet assistance in leaving someday (soon, i hope).... i love reading.
my favorite author thru the years has been cs lewis.
i read narnia in hs, and loved the last book the best (last battle).
Tolkien, Shakespear, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Richard Dawkins, George Orwell, Edgar Allen Poe phew!
So many books, so little time!

the organizations position, if pressed, is that they prefer dubbies not to read the finished mystery book, because, even though it served gods purpose and stirred christendoms priesthood into a white heat of hate, the book contains some satanic thoughts that god allowed to slip in there for some reason.
anyway, i thought i might present some of these satanic thoughts so that the household of faith can know what they need to be on guard against.
satan seems to have slipped in a lot of his own thinking, especially when it comes to the books interpretation of the symbols of revelation and what these mean.
When I originally asked a local elder for a copy of FM he told me it wasnt advised reading because the book contained "Satanic thoughts"
Ofcourse it wasn't advised...When I started doing research on the borg and still had some doubts wether it was the truth or not, I read this book. It was like a point blank shotgun blast to the head. After reading that I had no doubts whatsoever about the 'truth'. I actually recommend JW's to read this book. It's a true killer. (and then to think they teach that christ selected them 1 year later as communication channel!!)

for me, it's the "faithful and discreet slave class".
well because I stopped believing at about 15 years of age most of those believe were simple ones like deminz I nerver believed the stuff about the FDS... but to name a few:
That there was a God up there that wanted us to annoy people at home trying to sell books and stuff.
That there was a God up there that wanted us to be bored to death at meetings
That there was a God up there that thought the meetings alone were not boring enough so he wanted us to go to three day long assemblies in August!
That there was a God up there that wanted us to dress like this:
That there was a God up there that wanted us to pick friends from inside his organisation, no matter how braindead and disloyal these friends were.
That there was a God up there that wanted us to kiss CO butt.
That there was a God up there that wanted all our time and effort. oh, and some love.
That there was a God up there that was very fond of some old geezers and used them as walkie talkies
That there was a God up there that wanted us to refrain from playing cool computer games like Unreal and opted for Freddy Fish instead.
That there was a God up there that wanted to reward us for our trouble by putting us in one big garden with all the other buggers he liked. Calling this Paradise seems like a bad sense of humor.
That there was a God up there. (Now THAT's silly!)

Hippi the article on the site has this listed as source:
Source: Dr. William L. Shulman, A State of Terror: Germany 1933-1939. Bayside, New York: Holocaust Resource Center and Archives.
However, since Dr William L. Shulman used wrong figures I bet his source was the society. This is a common trick used by the society, they quote a source that is actually quoting them and thus insinuation independent views while they are not actually independant. If people find out they can always claim: Hey, they wrote it! We simply used it in good faith. etc...

) the book of discipline of the united methodist church (1996)(pp.
while primary responsibility and initiative rests with each professing member faithfully to perform the vows of the baptismal covenant that have been solemnly assumed, if the professed member should be neglectful of that responsibility, these procedures shall be followed:.
(1) if a professed member residing in the community is negligent of the vows or is regularly absent from the worship of the church without valid reason, the pastor and the membership secretary shall report that professed member's name to the church council, which shall do all in its power to reenlist the professed member in the active fellowship of the church.
If a professed member residing in the community is negligent of the vows or is regularly absent from the worship of the church without valid reason...
LOL sounds like school again!
