  Hi happysista!

  After finding out my religion was nothing but a hoax, I started to take a critical look on everything I believed. I decided the best thing was to start from scratch. A good approach is the scientific method:

  Don't believe anything unless there is proof to substanciate it or strong clues that cannot be explained otherwise. Use logic and rational thought. Look at things from multiple sides (pro and contra). Ask questions. Accordingly, make a decent evaluation and draw your own conclusions. Any belief system that rejects scrutiny and questioning should be rejected. Do not be impressed with authority, make your own choice and do not be too proud to admit you were wrong. Better learn from mistakes than stick to it!

  Is Satan the good guy?

  if i were to believe in the bible (which i am starting to totally disbelieve), i like the idea that satan was actually on mans side, and when you look at what he told eve he was actually telling the truth, it was god who lied.

  this used to cross my mind as a witness but i would very swiftly dismiss it as demons affecting my thinking.

  didn't he say we could rule ourselves if given a fair chance?

  Well, what strikes me as odd is that people that believe the bible see it as a book written by God. Yet at the same time they believe Satan has not written any book as of yet. So at best we only know the story from one side. Satan does nothing to defend himself against the caims of the bible.

  Like abbadon, I find it very easy to see satan as a freedom fighter. He speaks many humanistic thoughts: man can rule himself, man can overcome problems without help from the outside etc etc.

  And his words came true, eventhough the bible claims it was a lie. If there really was a question as to man ruling himself it is God that keeps cheating the game: makes us mortal, makes us imperfect, intervenes countless times: the flood, sodom and gomorrah, Babel etc.

  Satan has according to the bible never miraculously saved or destroyed people. God did. I have never read an account in wich Satan slaughters people. it is God that sends plagues, leprosy, lightning and other stuff to smite people even innocent ones. So who is the bad guy here?

  Trying to Send German Comedian to District Convention :-)))))

  well, stefan raab is a famous german singer and comedian, maybe comparable to tom green.

  he usually harasses big events and let the people there look a little stupid.

  he even it made to represent germany at the european song contest with a song that made no sense at all.

  going out in the field service, we always talked about the same topics, so we only had to know a few verses by heart.

  what would you say were the most important verses to know by heart in order to defend our beliefs?

  Strangely enough I did not remember a single text.

  I never could bring it up to learn this, somehow this is not how my mind works. I was therefore pretty toasted if there was a bible quiz at those silly parties: couldn't come up with even the most basic texts.

  Now I am glad I didn't!

  you know where real jws post their mind-numbing thoughts about how terrible the world (and "worldly" people) are and how great it will be when armageddon comes to destroy the wicked?
