when I would see the placard waving protesters at the DC I would take a look and wondered what all the "dates" were about and didn't pay any further attention to them, I though they were a load of loons, one particular day I walked over to where they were positioned and walked over to a guy handing out their leaflets , I gave him a tirade of angry rhetoric and told him that members of the true religion would find themselves persecuted by the Evil Slave Class, I think it left him speechless as he had no answer whatsoever, so I would say the anti jw protesters had very little effect on my current standing as a jw. The real shaker for me came around the time of the WACO siege in 1993, although I had been expressing a lot of doubts about my faith the siege was huge news across the world, local radio station here in London was conducting a phone in show about cults and sects and the guest on the show was an expert in the subject, there was an appeal at the end of the show to anyone who is concerned about friends or families in cults etc to phone the show and some advice could be passed on , I phoned the show and was guided locally to some resources , that was the beginning of the end for me.

they never call here, in the 20 years since I moved away they called once at a place where I lived after I separated from my wife, we had a good chat ( they had no idea who I was)and I invited them back , they never returned , I moved away from there in 2002 and have not had one single call in the places I lived since, although the Mormons used to call quite regularly NEVER ever leave an opportunity to anti witness to them , and every time I see newbies on the cart I will go over to them and chat. -

sorry to hear this , it truly sucks, exactly the same happened to me when my mum passed in April, I got to hear about it a few days later through my BiL screaming down the phone to me.Its a very strange feeling, its hard to even be sad or mourn, naturally I was forbidden to attend the funeral , difficult to know what to say. -

New member checking in
by Old Major inbeen reading for about 2 and a half years, thought i would take the plunge and sign up.. my circumstances... i live in uk, serving as ms. i am fully awake.
i can not leave due to family, so just treating the meetings as a bit of a social club.
i would like to give out more details, but i think you all know the drill.. complete disillusionment and i suppose natural curiosity woke me up.. don't know what else to say right now, just hello, and i hope to get to know some of you guys better.

Sad Reality...

sure it has trickled down to the elders and those who volunteer for construction but the average jw has no idea.

its true they are always left in the dark, it makes me slightly angry when I chat with them and they plug jwdotorg and I tell them yes I look at it regularly, it tells absolutely nothing about your UN membership, ARC hearing on child abuse cover-ups etc, it stops them in their tracks, hopefully it makes them think outside of the box
