To Scully--A Tribute!
by Atlantis inif you are a new person to the board you might want to send scully a pm thanking her for her hard work and dedication.
the boe project owes her for helping it to get started.. example:.
several years ago there was a website called (dirtclod.com) who had the courage to display the boes right out in front of everybody.

what buzz word from the jw's do you hate & why?
by Sabin inso my hubby has been on a bit of a roll about the jdubs, we were talking a lot about them & he said the buzz word he hate's the most is "worldly" why?
because he say's "with that one word they have condemned (according to their believes) a person as being worthy of nothing but death.
".

Is the WT’s Paradise Earth doctrine a delusion?
by deegee inthe wt’s teaching that humans will live forever on a paradise earth will necessitate that given that there will be no more death, then immortal humans will have to be relocated to other planets in order to prevent the earth from becoming overpopulated.. so how many habitable, earth-like planets are there?more and more habitable, earth-like planets would have to become available on a continuous, never-ending basis ad infinitum as mankind’s population grows given that there will be no more death.. the longevity/sustainability of life on these planets will be limited by the fact that the sun serving these planets will eventually die:https://shar.es/1cko6n.

so immortal humans will have to keep moving from planet to planet.

"Reproach on Jehovah's name"
by Phizzy inthe longer i am away from the cult, the more very childish and downright silly it seems in many many ways.. just another example of the childlike way they do not think things through is their obsession with "not bringing reproach on jehovah's name", that concept was used to stop jw's doing all sorts of stuff, a lot of it quite normal.. but the worst aspect of this concept is that they cover up the evil within their org any way they can.. yet they only have to look back on all the cover-ups of the past, by other religions, by politicians etc etc to see that an open acknowledgement and an open dealing with the situation at the time is far better.. cover-ups get exposed in the end, and leave you looking far worse than if dealt with honestly..

its daft isnt it Stan?, the malevolent, genocidal, perverted ,vengeful, voyeuristic maniac god of the Bible who was supposed to create man in his own image and we are supposedly likened to be his own children and we are the ones who are supposed to be bringing reproach on his name? my language could get stronger but it would violate the forum rules! -

If the meetings are SO valuable and vital, why do witnesses love having a day off from them?
by stuckinarut2 inhave you noticed how happy witnesses are when they have a change in meeting schedules, so that a meeting is missed?.
eg, the week of an assembly, the midweek meeting is not held, and they all say "oh it will be nice to have a night off".. or if a public speaker doesn't come for the talk, and the meeting has just the wt study, they all enjoy "an early mark".
or if they go on holiday, they say "oh we are on holiday, we won't go to the meeting".

their whole lifestyle as a jw; the schedule for meetings, study FS, CA/DA's memorial, getting ready, putting on changes of clothing is all geared to be tiresome physically and mentally and one small respite from another dull pointless meeting is always met with joy, its human nature. -

Like Father, Like Son
by cofty inwhen faced with awkward questions about the morality of god many christians respond by distancing themselves from the old testament and focusing on "gentle jesus meek and mild" of the new testament.. for bible-believing christians this is intellectually dishonest.. according to christian dogma jesus was the god of abraham isaac and jacob.
the logos, the alpha and omega who is "the same yesterday, today, and forever.".
he claimed that "he that has seen me has seen the father" and that "i and the father are one".. in short, christians assert that jesus is almighty god from all eternity.. it therefore follows that jesus was the god who ordered the nation of israel to take slaves as inheritable possessions.

its interesting Cofty highlighting the role Jesus Christ plays in the so called triune godhead(I'm neither fussed by a triune god or monotheism, both mean nothing to me) and not something I've generally paid too much attention to even as a jw and after I left for a short time as a Christian I played up the fact that the ransom was to do away with the Mosaic Law and this new religion was nice and comfortable and far easier than the shackles that were placed on those practising Judaism or any other belief system, but a good point to discuss with Christians and to emphasise that JC/Yahweh or whatever you want to call it and the so called Holy Spirit is just as malevolent as the god of the OT, good points. -

OKAY, GAME OVER! The number one reason the New Testament amounts to bunk
by Terry infor me, the dead giveaway is this.
jesus wrote nothing.. stop and think about that.. if jesus were the authentic messiah, his ministry would not simply be local.. his instructions, his mission, the details of his teachings would be too precious to risk leaving it in the hands of "men unlettered (illiterate) and ordinary (blue-collar yokels).".
jesus, were he the one and only hope of mankind, would be absolutely certain to write down with great simplicity and specificity the exact owner's manual necessary to rescue mankind.. never happened!.

Myelaine, your rather sad typical theist excuses for the deity you choose to worship is summed up by this;
