Do you think JWN members would be surprised if they got to know you in real life?
by nicolaou ini don't think you'd recognise me much at all.
i'm a royal mail postman, i love my job for the early starts and midday finish, the outdoors and the exercise.. i get on with people but i'm quite insular and don't enjoy crowds.
i'm happiest when i've fired up the charcoal and i'm making souvlaki or adana kebabs for my family and a few close friends.

2 of us have said they dont enjoy crowds, the same here, I wonder if it has any relation being dragged to those dreadful DC's as kids, thats why I dont go to the football much at all -

interesting that Millie, a brother I spoke with at when I was a Dub he had read this AI report and I didn't pay exact attention to the dates when the widespread persecution was taking place but this report was not even quoted in any Yearbook due to the graphic descriptions of the atrocities that Banda was inflicting on them, a wiki search lists incidents in 1967/1972 and 1975/6, Malawi was also receiving humanitarian aid from the UN, again I dont have the links of the exact dates but the issue surrounding the so called "party card" that the jw's were not allowed to wear or carry was also card that they would have needed to show to claim any aid. -

Millie210 you really need to read up on the Amnesty International reports about the Banda ragtime in Malawi in the 1970's not only to jw's but to the Indian community among others -

but my favourite 5 would be
The Malawi/Mexico scandal
Mad Freddie Franz' keen obsession and regularity in visiting gay saunas
Beth Sarim and the alcoholic second president
Ted Jaracz child abuse
GB members Greenleas and Chittys removal from the GB for homosexuality, and the slap on the wrist punishment they received, hypocrisy and breathtaking double standards

OrphanCrow;
was you shocked when the AJWRB group was formed? an anonymous secret group made up of elders who opposed the WTS blood ban policy, I wonder if you know the real reason the blood ban was implemented? the 2 sexual deviants who were to become the presidents of the WTS made a promise at the deathbed of the alcoholic, ego maniac bully because he had this strange idea? cult leaders seem to have this very strange relationship with the medical profession, The Plymouth Brethren, Scientologists, The Amish, etc, strange isnt it?

Can You Feel The Love?
by OneFingerSalute injust heard of an experience that proves what i have thought all along about the unique type of love in the jdubya religion.. an elderly, handicapped jdubya acquaintance was traveling alone through the mid-west recently and found themselves stranded in denver, colorado due to dangerous road conditions.
not knowing anyone, and having no way to get from place to place on their own they made a number of phone calls.
finally they were able to get in contact with an oh so christian "sister" who had with her husband spent many decades in bethel.

to think that it was the very thing that attracted new recruits and the R&F to stay in because of the so called warmth and love that they used to show, quite clearly not the case now, In my area I would bet that you could walk into many KH's and get ignored at every single one. -

Jw's go to the door of a biblical scholar to preach the Bible.
by paradisebeauty inthis is interesting, jw's go to the door of a biblical scholar, a professor in theology i believe, and he invites them in and records the whole conversation.

the black guy made a complete ass of himself by speaking about not everything written should be taken as figurative! fool. He was playing with them and exposed their basic knowledge as being poor and flawed, quite pathetic really, I like the part when he expressed that he wished that they would be much more "scholarly" not much chance of that happening, towards the end it was a " who can flick to the scripture the quickest race" in which the jw's were very easily losing. -

Do You Remember The First Time You Looked At "Apostate" Material?
by minimus ini was always fascinated by it.
as a kid, i used to go to the local library and secretly read books by so called apostates.
later, i would sneak into christian book stores and quickly buy a book or two.

its a milestone moment and no going back for many and me also, my local library stocked Alan Rogersons book also like Phizzy's but it was the only book they had at all on the WTS but I would pop backwards and forwards and sit there to read a few pages at a time, with the help of Reachout Trust they connected me to a local exjw who had a ton of exjw stuff at his house he let me take whatever I wanted, we ended up becoming very good friends , I often wondered what happened to him, also I was working all over the UK at the time and would likewise search out Christian book stores which held far more stuff on cults and sects, they were amazing days in the early 1990's in a journey through life.
