a friend of mine (exjw) received a WhatsApp call completely out of the blue last week from a brother we both knew, I reckon either of us haven't heard from him in about 20 years and the first thing he mentioned was are you trying to use a different method of recording hours, my mate was having none of it.

US Letter Read Sunday 4/26 at Meeting - No KH Use and No Field Service Indefinitely
by JWTom inthere was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.
however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.
also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.

Were You Willing To Die For Jehovah?
by minimus inwe were supposed to be dedicated unconditionally to jehovah god.
we were willing to be persecuted to the death if need be.
if it came to taking a blood transfusion or dying, we were loyal to jehovah and would be a martyr for god.

No. I would have taken blood secretly, and in any other scenario I would have cooperated with the authorities.

Don Adams has passed away
by RubaDub ini received a call from a friend in new york city that don adams passed away late last evening (30 dec 2019).
many of you bethelites know him and he was the president of the society for a number of years after the gb got out of the corporate structure business.
from what i understand, he was generally liked by many there.. some in my family knew him.

stood by silently for decades while they protected sexual predators and paedophiles, makes him just as bad.

I find her quite obnoxious and somewhat annoying and her rant at the UN was ignorant and the views of someone clueless about the ever changing climate of the planet , but as many say I feel for her being thrust into the public spotlight as a spokesperson for the clear agenda behind her and the shady dodgy people in the background pulling her strings manipulating her, I sense she'll be pushed aside soon as her credibility and scrutiny becomes more and more exposed, I feel the sympathy for her but the other Climatards/Eco Nazis in the news each become more and more exposed as being uneducated RentAMob types clueless about the real issues facing the enviroment.

Not training speakers/teachers any more?
by eyeslice2 innot having attended any meetings since about 2001, for reasons of safety (sounds a bit dramatic but i don't like my wife being out on her own late at night where we live now), i have started accompanying her to the mid-week meeting.. when i was young, the ministry school and service meeting were central to training brothers to take the lead.
you were assigned instruction talks, then if you cut it, you moved pretty rapidly to public talks - a full 55 mins at the time.
i was just 18 years old when i gave my first public talk and this was a first step to moving rapidly through the ranks.

I cant imagine a Thursday meeting bereft of The Instruction Talk, Written Review and talk no 2,3,4 and 5, they even wised up to the fact that the TMS was doing the exact opposite of what it was originally planned; making good public speakers and gosh I've heard so much mind numbing hopeless public speaking from the platform of the KH over the years to last me a billion lifetimes, LOL. JoeyJoJo 100% agree with you.

When was it time for you to walk away from your congregation meetings and the WTBTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe basic virtue for a human being is to be true to yourself – the integrity of thought, emotion, and action.. .
ten years ago ( after 32 years as a jehovah's witness), i finally decided that my own mental sanity and being true to myself was more important than attending congregation meetings and serving the watchtower society.
i stopped (years before) field service, the ministry school, answering at the watchtower studies, missed numerous meetings and walked in minutes before the meetings started and left after the closing prayer, i knew it was time to leave.

the early 1990's, a born in had a walkabout phase on my teens got interested again. baptised in the late 1980's, married in 1990 (huge mistake) and during the Waco siege my interest was aroused with the media focusing on cults and sects and I began to research, I was done , by 1993 my fade started but did attend the memorial that year my last ever, our marriage continued to deteriorate and we divorced in 1995, moved away, new career and life was starting all over again, dabbled in a little bit of evangelical Christianity but it simply wasn't for me, been an atheist ever since and never set foot in a KH since, and as some have said during the last year of my miserable marriage i really did hit rock bottom, my mental state was something I needed to salvage and luckily I did.
