that happened in 70 ce... i guess it has 2 fulfillments.... i'm drinking a beer right now, not in the mood for this conversation... mostly i hear, bla bla bla bla bla....... he's trying to figure something out... i asked whether those scriptures had 1 or 2 fulfillments... anyone know???.

sometimes this is exhausting... .

According to the Watchtower Society it has two fullfillments but according to the Bible it does not. Matthew24:3-51 was fullfilled during the life time of Jesus' disciples. Jesus said"all these things will come upon THIS generation." (the word " THIS" means present] These words came true in 70C.E. It marked the end of that system. When Jesus said "this generation" he was talking to his disciples so they understood he meant their generation. Jesus went on to say "there would be a great tribulation such as has not occurred nor will occur again." The Watchtower says there will be. Who do you want to believe Jesus or man? The preaching of the "good news" was fullfilled before the end came in 70 C.E. Paul said it had "been preached in all creation." Colossians {1-23.} So the end never came before the work was done. Christains do not have to preach like the WS says they do. Where did they read it has a greater fullfillment? They never. Just some more of their lies so people will slave for them. Hope this helps someone.

Welcome Mog, Hope to hear more from you. It's so sad what that cult has done to so many families. But we have to go on and hope others will see the WTS for what it is.

i have said goodbye to some and upset the elders by telling jw friends that i don't believe the wts any more.

Yes, I said good-bye to some who I was close to. One said "I'm going to save you a chair." I let her know I was never coming back. Two others I talked with on the phone, I told them the same thing. I even had to tell my 9 year old grandson when he told me he had the no.2 Bible reading and wanted me to be there. He has asked me why I left because my daughter will no longer let him spend the night with me. I told him when he got old enough to read and understand what he read I was going to tell him. Now and then he gets to come down and stay about 3-4 hours. I am so mad at myself for bringing my kids up in that cult. I do have one son and his wife and granddaughter who did get out.

Which bible translation do you prefer?

i have decided to buy myself a bible.. i have a new world translation but the large print version, so i tend not to use it.

after reading crisis of conscience i have decided to discard this translation anyway, but at a loss as to what translation to use.

i also have a few old king james bibles but the language is unreadable to me.

i understand that 1914 (the day of jesus' return) was calculated through the book of daniel.

No Robman, 607 is not right. Read Jeremiah 25:11. It plainly says "all the nations would servr King Neb. for 70 years". Babylon fell 539. When you add 70 to 539 you get 609. History says King Neb. began ruling in 605 and the Bible at 2Kings25:8-9 says it was Neb. 19th year when Jeresulam was desolated. 605 was his first year so take away 18 more years you get 587 for the desolation. Now the Watchtower Society says Neb. first year is 624 so take away 18 years from 624 you get606. WTS is a lying cult.

Hi, its been awhile since i read the JWs version of Luke. but what i remember is "the rich man" is "Christendom" and verse 28 the "five brothers" meant "all the churches". They used verses 23-24 to prove there was no burning hell. Sorry not much help. It's been too long and got rid of their publications. Hate that cult.

does anyone know if there is a single place that list all the current beliefs and teachings of the jw's.

i like to have something i can compare history with to have something to fall back on to show people changes in the belief that they are being taught.

most current teaching is the "generation that will not pass away". First it was "those living in 1914 who saw the signs would not pass away" that was changed to a different meaning of the word "generation" which meant anyone living in this time of the end. The current teaching of the "generation that will not pass away" is now applied to the "annointed". Go to their publications. hope this is what you meant.
