  Leaving or not

  the thread about people leaving has made me think of the 7 years i have been on the net and participated in various witness and ex-witness e-mail groups or discussion boards.. in these years i have seen many a person, which for various reasons come and go from such forums.

  there are of course as many opinions as there are people and in such diverse groups there will always be debates about every conceivable subject there is.

  people who come out of the watchtower society seems as a group particularly ill equipped to deal with disagreements and strong debates but of course some more than others.

  Double Standards - Where is the line drawn?

  i was happy when the yadrif was given the boot - we never needed the spread of hatred and name calling.

  it seemed as though everyone felt the same way.. i find it hypocritical that as long as you are "influential in the xjw community" or if you run a big anti-jw website you can call anyone names and you can post any obscene drivel as long as it is a song which you dedicate other posters.. i find it ironic that a "well-respected" poster (and i could give a damn what his past actions or brave deeds are, or what fancy essays he wrote) would call me a biggot in chat for asking simple questions but then he would defend the stuff kent wrote in reference to aguest.

  i don't give a damn if it was written by frank zappa or some other crack-smokin' loser - the fact that they are song lyrics is irrelevant.

  freedom of speech is a good thing.

  but any good thing can turn into a bad thing when it is taken to extremes.

  personal attacks do not need to be protected.

  When we sign up for PERMISSION (for such it is) to post on this forum..we agree to not do the following among others..

  1) Publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any inappropriate, profane, derogatory, defamatory, infringing, improper, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information.

  2) Defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others.

  Anyone who posts here, and then blatantly disregards these statements really could be called a LIAR! You agreed you wouldn't do it and then if you did....!!!!

  On this site, Simon has given permission for people to use more than one user name. There is no rule here against using more than one user name, so BIG DEAL.

  Being an EX-JW is not an excuse to be a blatant public liar. And there have been times when I would have loved to start cutting and pasting posts and mailing them to various individuals' business contacts. Haven't done it yet. Probably won't.

  This is your site Simon, you should do what you think is right and do what you want. I think YOU'RE doing a wonderful job.

  a troubled child with vacant eyes sits quietly alone with not much to say,.

  he killed her puppy and said she would be next if she told her friends at play.. a father who betrayed her trust, violated her innocence and left her emotionally numb,.

  Missed you guys, had "The Talk" with ...

  it's been about a month since i posted... sorry to stay away so long.. many of you are aware that my parents stopped speaking to me last year, and the only time i've seen them in a year is when my dad had a heart attack.

  i got an e-mail from my mom that asked how i "felt about their religion" since i'm celebrating holidays.. i sat down with mom on saturday and told her that regardless of our differences in beliefs, that we're still family, and that will never change.

  i told her that i understand that she's conflicted because of her beliefs, and that it's been difficult for her.

  i know this is kind of like shooting fish in a barrel, but i just have to share this email i got a few minutes ago.

  i think it encapsulates the response many will have, no matter what is said about the molestation issue.

  i invite you read it, put yourself in my shoes, and see how you might offer a response.

  "Last Days" Special Pioneer conv....

  i just received news via yahoovoice chat re: a special pioneer "meeting" that is supposedly secret in nature and restricted to only certain congregations who received a letter with "christian cong" as letterhead.

  i'm not clear on if some letters have that as their head and other letters had "wtbts" on them.

  it is said to be held oct. 7, 2001 at jackmurphy stadium/ qualcomm stadium, san diego, ca.

  A congregation in Reseda, CA has also been selected to go, October 7 to a speical supplemental meeting of the annual Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. This meeting is open only to baptized and unbaptized publishers and their minor children (did not say spouses, will check on that) and admittance will be only by a special 'publisher's badge' distributed from the congreagation overseer. The meeting is from 10:00 am or so to 1:30 pm or so,(don't remember exactly). Whether this is the same as the 'special pioneer' meeting mentioned here, or a different meeting, I do not know.
