(My personal opinion only!) I think that people need religion to stay sane - to realize that ultimately, there is nothing after this life. NOTHING. Some people I have met through work (not friends of mine!) have openly said that they would be horrible people if it wasn't for god. I don't need to believe in god to be a good person - to not go out and kill people. To be a good person - to contribute to society. To not go out and kill cats for no reason - you know what I mean,.

In any event, even I don't ultimately know what will happen when I die. I'm pretty sure I won't be floating around the clouds, or burning in hell. It will be quiet and dark.

Who lets it be known that they were once a JW?

i am curious, for those of us here who have left the jw org, who actually lets it be known to people that they were once a practicing jw.. for me, this is something i tend to keep quiet because it is something i'm not particularly proud of.

anyone else feel the same way?.

If people start talking about them, I will tell them that I used to be one. There are usually lots of questions - but not always. I always preach that the best way to piss off a JW is to be happy and not tell them to *&&^ off at the door - a typical dub just can't get they're head around people being nice to them.

We usually have a good laugh over it. The usual response is 'I would never have guessed!'.

i wondered if anyone, after starting to post here after so long being worried about doing, now just does it because they acn and hasn't stopped to ask why the still feel the need or even pleasure.. so why do you come here?.

I think I come back here to see what's new in the dub world. It's difficult to keep up with the new light.... I'll be gone again soon, but probably back in a few years. Past behavior is indicative of future behavior, or someone told me once.

Scariest Movie you have ever seen?

i know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.

like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.

anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

Oh, you know how it goes, Big Tex, sometimes your life just goes full circle. In other words, just great! Things have never been better.

The snow is melting, and I'm going ski mountaineering for four days starting tomorrow. Pretty exciting!

Pretty much stole the words right out of my mouth. It gives 'apostates' a bad name - I like to think that we're somewhat truthful now that we're out; truthful to ourselves, our fellow man... hell, I"m not even religious in the least and I follow these rules.

Personally, I cannot understand why anyone would waste they're time being an elder when it's all nonsense. Working with those who protect criminals is repugnant.

Remember, people, anyone can say they are an elder and be some twelve year old kid in front of the computer.

I've been told they are considered a high-control group some years ago, but they may have changed the definition of cult nowadays. Either one works for me.
