with this new light, i am starting to try and figure out what to do with my life and my time... now that the world is opened up for me to finally explore.. i have been wondering if i will return to celebrating the holidays with my 'worldly' relatives.
my parents, brother, and in-laws are all witnesses.
i have pretty much rejected the holidays say for 25 years.

any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.
I'm working hard from inside to help some loved ones out of this cult, but don't know how much longer anyone can listen to this insanity.

So one can find happiness from focusing on congregational activities eh.... BULLSHIT. I think everyone reading this will agree that congregational activities do nothing more than wear people down. The only reason why there are so many 'witnesses' is because they will be shunned by everyone they know - not because of they're 'love' for Jehovah. Take away shunning, and let me tell you there numbers would drop drastically overnight.
There are tons of bottom feeders hidden away in the witness religion that go to meetings regularly - if people spend time with them, they either become bottom feeders themselves or get depressed - and hopefully leave.
reading about the passing of wings' mom got me to thinking.
my mother has shunned me completely for the past 20 years with the exception of three conversations about health history.
if i outlive my mom, the probability is great that she will die without me ever seeing or talking to her in any kind of meaningful way.
How sad.
I don't have any problems with someone going back and fading if it means they will see they're parent. I know of a few instances of people doing that - and immediately going inactive again.

almost everyone who leaves the watchtower organization acknowledges the fact that the jehovahs witnesses leadership is quite masterful when it comes to using guilt as a means of motivation and coercion.
throughout the watchtower articles, convention talks, and talks given by traveling overseers, there are often statements woven into the material that are designed to evoke feelings of guilt in those who are not robotically falling in line with all organizational programs and group-think.
in addition to the many cliches, buzzwords, and catch-phrases used in watchtower material, the organization also makes comparisons between the field service activities of witnesses in one part of the world to another part of the world.
Excellent analogy - sounds like someone went to counselling or has been training in that field the way you speak of it.
Nothing is ever good enough for Jehovahs organization. If you can't make it, just remember it's always your fault because Jehovah helps the faithful. (tm)

Well - I don't know if I would. Having a company vehicle and all.... or soon to have one. I"m lucky.
Why don't you sell your vehicle, walk a bit more/ take the sky train and rent a vehicle on weekends for your jaunts, if that's possible. I have a few friends that have done it and are quite happy about it. Also, buying a vehicle through a vehicle sharing group can help.
i opened another thread with a similar title and thought it was going to be a discussion about belief in god but it wasn't.
so i started my own.. although i'm not sure of much at the moment (since i had my beliefs whipped out from under me like the floor under my feet) i feel fairly certain about one thing.
there is evidence of intelligent design and beauty in the universe and i don't logically think this is accidental.
