I agree with Dakota in that if the Republicans would steer themselves away from the Christian Coalition I would vote for them. As far as I'm concerned the CC is only different from the Taliban in methods. Otherwise, both want a country ruled by religion.

Why the left is failing
by jelly inmoderate
i define a moderate as someone that occasionally disagrees with their party of affiliation and will (and have) crossed party lines to vote.
in short, someone that does not always vote for one party, will criticize their party for errors and occasionally agree with the other side.

Virgin Birth Claim Disproves Biblical Inspiration
by AlanF inmany bible believers claim that the old testament contains over 300 so-called messianic prophecies.
however, a careful look at such claims shows that at least 80% of these have absolutely no connection with jesus, or with events beyond what the ancient writer was concerned with.. take, for example, the famous example of the supposed virgin birth of jesus.
this is based on the text of matthew 1:18-23 (nasb):18 now the birth of jesus christ was as follows: when his mother mary had been betrothed to joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the holy spirit.

If anyone can show me some actual proof of the connection between Jesus and Horus, then I will believe it.
It is unbelievable how many Websites on Google have these Lists of so-called "connections" between Jesus and Horus (over 13,000 Sites - everyone from Atheists to Muslims to Pagans), but I have yet to see any actual proof.
I have never seen actual proof that Jesus ever existed. I have never seen actual proof that any miracles were ever preformed by anyone in the Bible. The problem with christian apologist thought is that they have a preconceived notion before they even begin to ask questions. You are looking for a direct link between Jesus and Horus. You're not going to get one. I find it interesting that "christian" theologians will admit copying from other religions but not their own. We can make comparisons between Roman myths and Greek myths but you're not going to find a document that says, "We the Romans decided to take Greek gods/goddesses and make them our own." But the similarities are so glaring that it would moronic to think otherwise. Every secular archeaologist article I've read agrees that it is likely that most of the Christian stories are nothing more than copies. The Romans were infamous for incorporating other religions into their own. Why is it so hard to believe that they did the same with the NT? Please don't be one of those moronic christians that cover their ears and sing "Bringing out the Sheep." every time someone exposes something you don't agree with. That being said, I do commend those christians who don't feel questioning the Bible is an afront to their faith.

A WHO'S WHO list of Atheists
by JT inhttp://www.celebatheists.com/
it has often been noted that many who leave wt often move from believers in a god to agnostic or atheist.. while the reasons often vary, they do share a common path- after leaving wt they kept on asking more questions - smile.
now i see why my grandma used to say: "baby, don't question the "lard"

I'm not an atheist but I do respect them a great deal. While religious people like to use weak circular logic an atheist seems to have the ability to cut through their bullshit. Also, religious people who even consider themselves intelligent seem willing to not ask hard questions about their own religion and why they are a part of it. I don't know many christians enlightened enough to say that the Bible is man made, has flaws, and some contradictions but they choose it because it works for them.

Anytime someone brings up Jesus I have to bust out this site. Someone else posted it in the Biblical section but I think more people should really read this site.

Well I went for coffee today with my daughter at a new shop down by one of the waterfront parks here. In the park they had a large group of people with a stage. I thought it was some church function until I saw someone walk by me with a No War in Iraq sign. So I decided to take a look over there. It was a great experience and my daughter had fun playing with the other kids. There was a Native American man on stage who gave a traditional prayer and talked about his experience since the 60's until now. He had some great stories. After him were various musicians. Great fun, and I stopped at all the booths to check things out. I got some protest buttons and pinned them on myself and my daughter. I should have some pictures soon if anyone would be interested.

Do you have to resort to foul language Francois! We like to think most of us are still christians here.
If you ever were a JW, the vacuum left behind in your life certainly hasn't been filled with anything christian like since has it!
You can think all you want but most of us here are not christians. Perhaps you need a ladder to get off of your high horse. It also seems that being a JW has left their holier than thou attitude in your mind. Were any vacuum in my life to be filled with christian values I would immediately nail myself to a cross. While your post is interesting in analyzing the thoughts of a psychologically unbalanced people it serves no other value.

Very good story. That is hilarious. My parents gave up shunning me when my daughter came into this world. They even came to her birthday party. I warned them ahead of time what was going on and they even brought a present.
Maybe you should start calling your sister John Edward since apparently she can talk to the dead.

Iraq has a rich national heritage. The Garden of Eden and the Tower of Babel are said to have been sited in this ancient land.
What self respecting scientist claims this? I get so sick of mythology being taken for fact.
Yes, how could someone who is not white and has no expensive university degree possibly understand anything?
OMFG, historians & archaeologists can be arrogant.
I agree with this. Nevermind, that most of our modern mathmatics came from Iraq. This has been a sore spot for me as well. It seems we like to talk crap about how advanced we are yet we still don't have the ability to recreate the Pyramids. We've basically only been able to explain concepts that were known for thousands of years. We have yet to really come up with anything new. Sure the technology has increased but its functions are still basically the same. I also think the important aspect in your comment is this: who is not white.
These guys sound like the people who are pissing themselves because it was discovered that China discovered America before the Europeans.
