  I told my dad this morning.........

  he asked if i was going to the circuit assembly this weekend.

  he asked why.

  i just said after a long pause, dad it's not the truth (you have to understand that i'm the one who preached to this man and got him in the truth) the conversation lasted about 5 minutes with him saying well who else teaches the right thing, you have to understand, jehovah has to have an organization.

  My mother is sure that the reason all 5 of her children are not JW's is because of our ass step dad. I had to tell her, "I just grew up."
  Sometimes doing the right thing is not always the easiest thing to do. I'm positive if you can get your father back out of the "truth" both of your relationships will be even stronger.

  The biggest misconception, and this is the fault of churches, is that religion and spirituality are the same thing. Regardless of what religion you choose you'll, at least in part, be following the will of men. It is up to you as to whether you can accept their teachings or not. Some would have you believe that your choice is made for you but it is not.

  I find it funny that they claim Humility and put themselves above everyone else in the world at the same time. I did not question the rightness of my DF'ing; I knew the outcome before I even went in to talk to the elders. My only anger is wasting years of my life recovering from their programming. And please Older Tom, don't call it the WITCHTOWER. I'm a witch and I find that insulting. I am nothing like (or any of my witch friends) the WTS and all of their drones.

  i see humor mixed with the frustration of living in a divided world.

  if we can be united there will be a cultural achievement of mankind that has never been yet established.. with the divisions now existing, there is strife and war and animosity.

  Did U find Jesus rude?

  jesus was a nice guy most of the time, but don't you think hes a bit rude and thoughtless sometimes?.

  the watchtower today discussed the supposedly marvelous example that jesus showed to youths today, citing his escapade at 12 at the temple.

  what hit home to me was that he was missing for three days - three days!

  Yes, I've seen Stigmata. I actually saw it before I ever heard of the book of Thomas. Interesting stuff. I had never known the Bible was incomplete. I knew that the WTS removed parts of Mark that didn't agree with their teachings but I had no idea that most everyone on the planet had a bible with complete books missing. By the way I find it interesting in the historical context as I don't believe the Bible to be the word of God.

  I'm New - my story

  hi everyone, i too have been lurking for a few weeks and thought it was time i made myself known.

  i am not a jw but i am married to a man who is from a multi-generational family of jw's (although he has not been to meetings since he was old enough to object).

  although i have never had any direct involvement with the organisation itself, i find my life is constantly infulenced by these people who judge, shun and avoid my husband and i (i guess they don't want to mix with "worldy people" such as us).

  Welcome to den. I'm sorry to hear about you having to even put up with the JW. As for god after the Borg. I think there are allot of different beliefs here but I'm very impressed to see everyone so tolerant of each other. I think after being a JW you realize that intolerance is the root of all evil. I really started questioning my beliefs when the elders could not logically tell me the difference between the WTS and the Pope. I think everyone here can agree that we all hate Hypocrites and JW are notorious for being hypocritacal.

  the discussions, behind bars,.

  involved very deep scriptural subjects - far more so than.

  I compare the JW time keeping to jobs that have quotas. You have to do X amount of work in X amount of time. While this is good in theory it breeds lack of quality and eventual laziness. You have to get X amount of field service hours to be in good standing. So basically you'll do just enough work not to get fired/bad standing.

  What kind of music do you listen to?

  i'm a music junkie, i like pretty much all types of music.

  but in particular i would have to say jazz is my favorite, but not the watered down kenny g style of jazz.

  i prefer the straight ahead, hard bop type of jazz.. lately i've been really getting into psychedelia rock.

  Classical- love Brahms
  New Age- Enya, Loreena McKinnit, etc.
  Rap- Tupac, Snoop Dogg
  80's- New Bohemians, REM, Queensryche, Dead milk men
  90's- Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam

  and today I most listen to
  Tool, System of the Down, Nickelback
  and I'm a huge Alanis Morisette junky.

  Make love in the woods on Beltane!

  in the old celtic times, young people would spend the entire night in the woods "a-maying," and then dance around the phallic maypole the next morning.

  Happy Beltane to you as well. Unfortunately, I'll miss the local festivals for various reasons. One of them being I have to really study for my mid-term. However, I make sure to light a candle to my patron Goddess and take my daughter to the park everyday so she can touch the trees and flowers. At 10 months old she doesn't do all that much.   I'm partial to Dolphins myself. As far as non animal. The ocean. I have to be near water, always. I swear it is like a phobia of mine to be too far away from the ocean. Sounds corny but I can "feel" it like a heartbeat, very strange. When I was a JW I was scared to death of deep water because of the unknown I guess. Now, I can't get enough. Oh my God! Maybe I'm Namor ;)

  I want the old republican party back before they sold their soul to the christian right. I always thought it was somewhat of an oxymoron(maybe not the right word) to say you want less government intrusion into peoples lives then try to pass laws that tell people how they should live.
