The numerous false prophecies was a huge red flag for me. Noone should take those lightly. Then I researched
more into the history of Charles ("The Jellyfish") Russell and Judge ("Boozer") Rutherford and it was like a house
of cards.
for me, it was not being able to prove that people were going to be resurrected to earth... i'm still not sure of the answer, but for some reason that just started this huge, fast snowball of different things that i couldn't prove... .
this lightbulb just went off in my head... .

the following picture is from page 17 of the july 15 2007 watchtower magazine.
the next picture is on page 18 .
these pictures are on opposite sides of the same page.
The face on the guy (second from left) on the 2nd photo is exactly the one I got from an Elder when I told him I saw a Smurf run through the congregation ... naked.
Anyhow, about the first picture ... I'm a Graphic Artist/Multimedia Coordinator and I know some tricks in advertising. I've been in
this business for over 20 years. The CENTER OF ATTENTION in the first photo is the pyramid. It is in the absolute center of
the illustration and draws your attention immediately. There is no doubt in my mind that this was intentional.

a recent thread ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/139118/1.ashx ) raised the issue of charles taze russell not being the first president of the watchtower... it appears to be an argument of semantics because the society had a different name (as one poster pointed out in the thread).
the watchtower society obviously has some embarassment over this issue because the amendments to the revelation book dealt with this :.

I thought "New Light" never diminishes "Old Light". So, instead of the Light Growing Brighter ... it just Flickers Dimmer.

how long before something happened (i:e 9/11) before you stopped thinking the big a was coming??.
i read 7 news papers a week it took me a long time to read about some big bad event without thinking this is it the big a is about to happen now i read it for what it is.. what about you.
.
I think Michael Corleone said it best ...
"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in!"
many of us have devoted a lot of time and energy to the jw's at the expense of other things like education , planing for retirement , family time just to name a few.. i don't consider it all wasted time there was a lot of good i learnt however i'm doing things now as a jw i never would have.. i don't have the same time pressure and never fell guilty about taking a lot of time out for myself as one elder said to me"if we don't keep you brothers real busy in the work of the kingdom you get swallowed up by the world" .
karter.
Yes, a huge waste of time. I almost want to go back to each and every door and apologize for wasting THEIR time.
has your life changed so much for the better that you even feel better since you left the "truth"?
I was "spiritually" sick. At every meeting, when the talk is about how JW fulfilled a prophecy I would just roll my eyes in disgust.
that active spouses should leave their "non-believing" or "apostate" spouse?.
the reason i ask is that when i asked my wife if she would follow this doctrine should it ever be activated.
by the wtbts.

The reason I ask is that when I asked my wife if she would follow this doctrine should it ever be activated
by the WTBTS. I disassociated myself recently, but my wife, who grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, is
still very much active.
Anyhow, when I asked if she would obey their order she couldn't answer, but instead just kept insisting
that "they would never do that!"

i cant believe they are doing this again.. watchtower study edition.
feb 15 2008 p.25 {box} "can we calculate the length of this generation?
" - "the word generation usually refers to people of various ages, who's lives overlap during a time period or event....the exact length of that time cannot be stated except that it does have an end and would not be excessively long....jesus did not leave his disciples a formula to determine when the last days would end....they would not know "the day nor the hour.".
Wasn't Jesus talking about "the generation" to witness the destruction of Jerusalem in 587 BCE?
i am curious: how many of you also experienced this, as i did?
prior to my own experience i had never known of anyone who had "served their time," attended meetings regularly, and in everyway demonstrated a good heart, being turned away.
but then, i guess i wouldn't have, would i?.
If I had to write a letter today to be reinstated it would look like this:
"Hey! Can I get reinstated? No? Kewl! KTHXBYE! LOLZ! :P"
