Not too long ago I told my parents... you dont celebrate birthdays yet you celebrate anniversaries... arent anniversaries the same thing? also you celebrate baby showers.. what is so wrong with celebrating the birth of the child that you so nicely celebrated for before being born? is being born a sin that makes the celebration bad?

thought of birthday rebutal
by atpeace ingrowing up of course as a jw child - birthdays couldn't be celebrated because the only instance of a birthday was when john the baptizer had his head cut off.
sooo... seams like "the memorial" shouldn't be celebrated because jesus was murdered.
just a thought.

OTWO... right on point...
Burn and other christians should not feel attacked... all religion are but perceptions... with a bunch of circular references that only make sense to those who believe... like using the bible to prove x or y point of view... what about those who think the bible is just another human book?
One thing is for sure: Everyone is entitled to his or hers opinion of God... the question is not what you believe but WHY you believe it... some can be discussed with tangible proof.. most ideas of God cannot...

Did anyone experienced racism in their old congo?
by confusa ini went to a spanish congregation and there were different hispanic nationalities and one in particular used to snub, criticize and make fun of the other one.
very unchristian and so the opposite of what they preached.

I live in the Caribbean and I attended a congregation where the distinction between so-called 'social status' made me sick. Part of the territory covered by the congregation consisted of upper-middle class suburbs while the rest of the congo were from poor 'barrios'. When the brothers of the 'higher' status made activities and get togethers they would not invite the others. When the CO came to visit, there was a distinct separation at the get togethers made in his honor.
I do have to be totally honest thou.. there was one (JUST ONE) elder who had tons of money who would do exactly the opposite, he would only invite the people of lesser economic means to his house...
sucks doesnt it?

People need books and philosophy and borgs to give them meaning and purpose and to get to 'know' God...
I look at your pictures... I see all I need to see... the miracle of Life is sufficent for me...
Thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures...

I'm curious- why 'god'?
by rimfiredancing ini know how i got sucked into the b0rg- i was a very spiritual, very young and very emotionally damaged 19 year old (raised in a violent on all levels home, the usual stuff) who was having- and had always had- a lot of 'supernatural' experiences that had caused my mother to declare me 'evil' (and try to get me exorcised on the odd occasion).
i'd become confused and was trying to work out if these things were, in fact, a sign of my rejection from 'god'.
if i'd known then what i know now about the christian god, i'd have told the jw's to stick it.

WTBTS refuses to return 100,000 pound donation from DF man
by dozy inwatchtower society declines to return disputed 100,000 legacyby emilie filou, third sector, 13 february 2008 .
the charitable arm of the jehovah's witnesses should return a 100,000 legacy from a man it expelled for trying to convert call girls, one of the man's relatives has said.. martin davis said the watchtower society should return the money left to it by his cousin donald kennett so it could go to kennett's nephew, who is autistic.. accepting money from a member who had been expelled would damage the charity's reputation, said davis, of dulwich, south london.. kennett was befriended by a jehovah's witness in the 80s when recovering from a serious car crash and joined shortly afterwards, davis told third sector.
he was 'disfellowshipped' from his group in stockport in 2001 after members discovered that he was contacting call girls.. when kennett's mother died in 1994, she had left half her estate to him and half to his autistic nephew.

We should not be surprised.. the man was not good enough to say hello to and shake his hand... but his 100k pounds sure were!
Just another example of the reigning hypocresy that IS the standard with the drones.

What Will They Do With Sexbots?
by metatron inhttp://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=080212144453.spddtsz8&show_article=1.
there is a serious point to this.
as a young witness, i used to wonder if the bible could become obsolete as a revelation.. situations could emerge, due to technology, that are simply not covered by any clear scripture.

How Jehovah's Witnesses Control Your Mind - Controlling Your View of Truth
by flipper infor those of you, newbies or perhaps others who haven't read steve hassan's book - " combatting cult mind control" here are some very important things to remember of how jehovah's witnesses and other " mind control" cults operate .
it may help you to understand some things to see how we were all faked out at one time in our lives.
hassan's book states , " in totalistic cults , the ideology is internalized as " the truth ", the only "map" of reality .

Great post Mr F... I've been out over 13 yrs now (after spending 23!) and still find myself reacting to any JW aspect.. the only thing is that is in the opposite way! Even after all these years I still cant get the resentment out and sometimes it turns into rage and ranting... then I analyze my reactions and ask myself why do I react this way? It is like, in my bitternes, I lash out.. something I should not do...
I am new here and any advice will be appreciated.. also if some of you are or were reacting this way, please let me know how you are handling...
