  The writers of the bible & Jesus

  more than 20 years ago, before i baptised, i reached the conclusion that the words of the bible are not inspired by god but only the global ideas.

  the reason why i reached that conclusion is based on hebrews 6:18 "through to unchageable things in which it is imposible for god to lie" and the title of a famous book written by the jw.

  the idea i developed was the following: if there are things in which is impossible for god to lie ,then, by extension there are things in which is possible for god to lie, which is not proper for an ethically perfect god.

  As it is, one could conclude many different reasons for his nonwriting. For example: he couldn't write, he intended on a war of liberation against the romans, he had no plans for a christian religion to develope the way it did, he died sooner than he expected.

  Just curious where you came up with this.

  According to Jesus, he planned no revolt, nor did he expect to live longer than he did. He said my due time isn't yet..so he knew.

  Are you meaning these things were falsley added by copiers along the way and he never really said those things?

  I think if you were really in the "truth" and knew it well.....you couldn't help but feel special.

  Those who were only embarassed I don't think knew it well. Maybe some...but not many.

  Why? For all the reasons Minimus mentioned.

  Those who felt special, also however.....were not anxious to tell people what religion they were.......unless they were out in service.

  i don't understand why people can't see the truth when it's right there in the bible in black & white.

  you can't change it to fit your personal lifestyle or modify it by only applying what intrest or benefits you.

  the wt organization has its place just like all the other secular laws have theres to protect & guide us.

  the watchtower once believed that if a woman did not scream while being raped, then she was guilty of fornication.

  she was 'in on' her own rape, thus she too is just as guilty as her rapist.

  i don't think there is a person in this forum today, who does not find this reasoning repugnant and archaic.

Anyhoo, she complained to the elders of how disgusting this was and she was going to file for divorce. The elders told her she had no grounds because beastiality wasn't considered "adultery". After many months, she had had enough and filed for divorce as the husband had no intention of ever changing. She was promptly disfellowshipped, and of course, lost all her family and friends in the process. She became very depressed and eventually committed suicide. Nothing ever happened to the husband. A few years later, the Borganization changed their policy, and decided that beastiality was adultery after all. Do you call this protection and guidance?

  each successor to the watchtower estate from rutherford onward has virtually reformed the organization.. rutherford was an attorney for the society and court judge.

  like modern-day reformers he didn't like the direction the watchtower was going, and staged a corporate takeover.

  chaos reigned at bethel when the brothers split into two religions.

  Conanburst:... If there are "billions of dollars" puring into Brooklyn, whats being done with it all, i have met members of the GB, and the UK Branch Commitee, I didnt see any Ferraris, Rolex watches or Bespoke suits, deluded though they may be, they are power freaks not monetarily greedy.

  I don't recall ANYWHERE in derricks post where he insinuated individuals were getting rich and living the high life. It is plain in his post he was talking about the monetary value the entire organisation has. We all know the old farts live modest lives.

  And the dubs wonder why we are bitter! I have always known there must be stories out there like this one as a result of the societies policy on what "pornia" was at that time. Thank you.

  You have to wonder how many deaths(suicides) were a result of this frickin organisation and there blunders.Do they ever say they are sorry....we were wrong...... never!

  if it was satan then that the "curse" of genesis 3:14 applied to rather than the serpent, then how is it that satan has had to live his life since that day as if having to go upon his belly and eat dust?

  the answer is arrived at by first considering the lowly state of this somewhat pitiful creature called the "serpent".

  So the professor is speculating too correct? The bible never said he appeared to them, or that he was in charge of them.

  You would think if the bible were God's word to us, he would'nt leave things open to speculation. You would think that God would know when people would read this thousands of years later this story would sound strange to our ears.......and it does!!!!!!!!!

  The only difference your professor sees is, it wasn't a serpent.....but his story is still the same isn't it?
