  Intolerance - a new breed of ex-JW

  i cant help but think of the analogy of pendulum swings when i think about how vitriolic some are towards religion (of any description), the bible (and other scripture), and christianity (generally, regardless of there being a wide range of denominational flavours) in particular.. it seems to me, from my perspective of sitting here on a remote scottish island, that there are a fair number of folks who may have left an intolerant and generalising religion but forgot to leave those attitudes with it.. just my 2p, coz to be frank i'm getting sick of it.. by all means enjoy some self-expression, it's a relatively free planet, but have a heart....

  Do we have non-Biblical evidence that Jesus Christ existed?

  what non-biblical, historical evidence proves or supports the notion that jesus once existed as a living, breathing jewish man?

  i'll start with the one that i used to swear by back when i was a good jw.

  Yeah, and it's funny how 6 million people will die for the WTBTS....and it's funny how millions of Muslims will die for their faith too. If Jesus was the real deal, why did he have to depend on informing mankind of his existence through a book that he never himself instucted to be written? Why cannot he show himself in a way other than a book? ( yes I know...jesus has spoken to the hearts of a handfull here while shunning all the rest) Second hand information is a pisspoor way to validate your existence. Gumby

  First Century Governing Body

  Since the bible is the only source recognised by christians as the source of info for that time....why not look there. You will find there were "pillars" in the congregation such as Peter and James...however nowhere are they said to be a governing body. Only in the sense that jesus left Peter instructions to be carried out and that these men were the first pioneers to take the lead.

  We don't find that they were rulers over others faith as long as it was rooted in the Lord. They kept order and tried to follow the Lord direction in the tasks he left for them. Paul in Acts said himself he didn't report to the Jerusalem council for 14 years as he was personally directed by the Lord.

  COC or In search of christians freedom had a good chapter on this if you have the book.

  Good advise TMS.....sucking up is one of the qualifications for being a good dub....ain't it? All wise brothers know that sucking up to elders and especially a CO gets you places......even more than a good monthly report on your publishers card.

  Methinks they will be sent in a "control elements" to problematic congregations, and reporting back to Brooklyn on what they find

  Randy....wouldn't it be more in Watchtower style for these ones to report their findings to CO's who have been instucted to "quiz" them......then the CO would report the results to brooklyn? I don't know if these Bethelites would report directly to Brooklyn.

  well for starters i do have a prescription for cannabis (insomnia / depression).... why would i want to take pharmacuticals for insomnia/depression?

  i mean, what if i get prescribed/addicted to a pill, that one day i might not be able to afford?

  (if you/i grow cannabis it's more/less free)... now the moral issue... who is more likely to beat the shit out of their kids?

  been wonderin why i been so horny lately...then i remembered...it's the full moon!.

  i'll betch you guys didn't know what a big part our moon has played in worship and tonight is one of those nights but it's 10:10 pm and i just remembered.. the ancients reasoned "no one really knows what the moon is or what keeps it from falling on us.

  it must be a god or controlled directly by one".. just think about how important the moon is to us.

  But my question is: Was there such a thing as "true religion" during the time of Abraham? This was long before the time of the Israelites and the Ten Commandments and as far as I can see, there was no set of doctrinal rules then....

  Mary.....you went and forgot about "the book of Adam" spoken of in Genesis. Since Moses was the first that god made himself " known to", I guess everyone was on their own. I'm thinkin all the book of Adam consisted of was sexual positions however since that's all the poor guy had to do when he was done with his gardening work and came in the tent for a cold beer.

  They tear families apart, cause deaths from their doctrines, and lead people down paths with no rainbow at the end of it.....so I guess there's good reason to whine about them.......especially when most all here are/were victims.
