  It's true Christians accept that the Catholics compiled what they felt should be Gods words to us.

  I suppose the argument could be used.."they started out GOOD, but as time went on....they got crazy". Some say the dubs "started out" good. Untill Russell went haywire.

  Just the fact of learning it was MEN who DECIDED what would be scripture, that there are no "original" copies, no proof things were not added, etc. make it hard to believe it is Gods word.

  My added thought:

  The Bible teaches only those in christ will be saved. Poor Poor muslims, hindu's, Buddist, Indians, uncivilized tribes, and all the others who know nothing of Christ. They will all perish as they haven't accepted him as their personal savior.

  According to most....he will come soon. Will he KILL all these that 'don't know him".... like he did in the old testement? I hardly think a loving God would! That goes for Dubs too.

  As was posted....all of this mess has caused hatred, murder, breakups, divisions.

  So....is the bible really the word of God?

  I feel RESEARCH on the material that has been posted would be a fair shot to give the bible.

  Everyone!!!!Thanks so much! I have a crapload of things I want to say about the comments and have no time. I don't want to see this run out without answering and I will post a thread called Is the Bible the word of God part two or something tomarrow if i can or I'll just continue this thread.

  We would have to assume that either all the men who wrote in Jesus time or else those who later....added to their writings.....all lied. They ALL fabricated who Jesus was. What would be the chances of that?

  I have all the reasons to doubt as the rest here. I only wanted a logical answer to the questions asked......

  Is the Bible really the Word of God? While sitting in my garage having a smoke, I reached up to an old publication (which I keep handy on my shelves). It was the book stated above. It was funny I picked that one as I usually randomlly pick something to read to compare with what I know.This subject has been on my mind for quite a few months. I have had SERIOUS doubts about the bible... but not God. Chapter 5 "Early Christianity- Is the Record Sound?, had some good argumentation that I could use some help with to see the 'other side of the coin'. Here are the 'jist' of what it said; 1. Jesus WAS a historical figure as writers other than christians testify. Wether he DID THE THINGS the bible said he did, OR WAS who the bible said he was.......is the debate. 2.The 4 Gospels all harmonize even though written by different writers. 3. The jewish TALMUD, though clashing with the gospels in that they argue in the Means by which Jesus performed miracles, do not DENY they happened.
  
  4. Celsus, a philosopher of the second century C.E., denied Jesus as divine in that his ORIGIN was of humble begginings....poor, humble, betrayed, suferred, being put to death. The argument is he believed Jesus existed.....but he used his personal opinion on how he VIEWED him. 5.Unlike mythical writings, the bible is built on people who REALLY existed, and PLACES that exist to this day. 6. Luke 3:1,2 names 7 political and religious officials who actually lived in the time Jesus lived. "This can be verified by consulting history books" say's the article on P.67 (thought that was interesting!) 7. The writers freely admited their waeknesses. Would writers who are fabricating stories, speak so humbly? 8. Last...the book also mentioed the THEME of the bible running throughout it's pages and say's in affect...."What are the chances of one theme weaving itself throughout the bible over that many years. Well, .....what are the arguments on these 8 questions?

  i just don't get why all of you are so upset with the watchtower bible and tract society.

  now, they did make few mistakes, even though they are god's channel of communication.

  Brother Franz succeeded him. He spoke seven languages fluently, but no matter where he went or what language he spoke, no one understood a single thing he said.

  The REASON nobody understood him was he actually was one of the few big boys who could speak in tongues.....(it's a secret language between you and God if you not familiar with tongues) that nobody else can understand. He actually was spoken to in german when Jehovah would direct him.

  The reason the Judge drank was his deep love for Gods Organisation and people. He knew they would be tested severely one day and he morned for them the way Jesus did for his people.Booze was the only thing that eased his pain as xanex wasn't inventd yet. Hope this helps with your attitude of the deceased! May Jah bless you!
