The bible was assembled by the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, of course. Of course, the protestants don't accept the deuterocanonical books, as you mentioned, but we Catholics do.

Can someone explain why...
by sinis in... christians believe in jewish books, otherwise known as the tanakh.
especially when jews don't believe in your books?
i still cannot fathom, to this day, that of all the people "god" supposedly made (and considering the jews were not the first race), that he would be so biased to chose the jews as "his chosen people".

I hate the Watchtower but I really still hate the Trinity Jesus is NOT God!
by Witness 007 insome bibles use the term "worship" when refering to jesus...at times people did fall down and bow to him........this doesn't show he was god!
the greek term; proskeyneo, means to prostrate oneself, to bow down and show honour.
now, this was done for jehovah.....and his representatives....jesus israelite kings and priests....but for the honour of jehovah not as creature worship which even angels would refuse.. also i studied the non-biblical early church gospels which really does show a slow decline over 150 years, into the trinity as the watchtower claims...........although i still hate the watchtower society at least i learnt something that wasn't a lie..

If anyone is actually interested in what the Catholic Church really teaches about the Trinity, here's a link:

On Saturday... I decided to dump all my literature
by tak init felt good!
i took that huge plastic bin that contained multiple copies of all the books given out by the society, all the old wt and awake's that i had, the year books, etc..... and threw into the city dump.
my boyfriend thought i should maybe bring the literature back to them and i said "hell no.... so they can give it out to more innocent people.. he agreed.

First off, if anybody wants to get rid of their stuff, send it to me! I'll pay shipping! I'm collecting a library of JW stuff for the purposes of showing people in the actual literature, not scans, what the WT actually said. Second, a friend of mine sells this stuff on eBay. You can make some money off it.

The jw uniform
by carla inthe other day child tells me how she saw a guy in a suit/tie and it just made her feel ick, thinking it was a jw.
so we were laughing about how a few years back seeing a guy in a suit would not have such an effect upon us and how when we used to see cars of people all dressed up on saturday's we always assumed it was people on their way to a wedding, and probably a catholic wedding at that!
because they do the noon mass thing sometimes!

Because of the closely cropped hair, the suit, etc., when my little boy sees Barack Obama on TV, he thinks he's a JW!

Since we know the economy is in a crisis, how are you budgeting better?
by Layla33 ini thought it would be useful if we discussed ways we have tried to budget better and also save, and even be greener, if that is something you care about.
i have noticed substantial differences in my saving and budgeting and i am hoping maybe we can learn from each other.. food.
i did a sum of all the money i was spending going out a few days a week for lunch, and i just realized how much i could save by making my lunch and buying soups on sale for lunch for the week.

We are already very frugal. We must now become more so.
I do about 3-4 loads of laundry a day. Right now, I hang the first and last loads of the day on my basement clothesline. Thus, I'm only using the dryer for two loads a day. When it warms up, I'll put all four loads on my outside clothesline.
I make my own laundry soap. I can make a five gallon bucket of soap for $2. I use white vinegar as a rinse agent/fabric softener, thus not buying dryer sheets or Downy.
I cook all meals and snacks. We almost never eat out anymore. No cold cereal (too expensive), just oatmeal, rice, or grits.
We got rid of DirecTV and went with basic cable for $11/mo.
I'm starting a sourdough starter so I can make my own bread with minimal yeast. I've been buying 100% whole wheat bread at the bakery thrift store, but it's gone up to $1.19 a loaf (from ,89 per loaf not too long ago) so I'm going to have to switch to homemade.
I've already started making all of my Christmas gifts for the upcoming year.
We're real bibliophiles. We've stopped buying books and started using interlibrary loan for the more esoteric titles.
We rarely go to movies anymore and, if we do, we go to a matinee and don't buy refreshments. We don't rent DVDs. We borrow them or get them from the library.
We almost never buy new clothes. Almost all of our clothes come from thrift shops. I'm gearing up for some serious clothes shopping come yard sale season.
Everyone (except for my husband) has given up soda pop. It's milk, juice, water, or coffee only. And DH has switched to generic pop.
We've cut down on errands, combining them, trying to plan ahead. Unfortunately, our town does not have public transit.
We have only one car. Since I'm a SAHM, we just try to coordinate things really well to get by with one vehicle.
Will definitely be maximizing my yard space for a garden.
Switched the pets from Iams foods to 100% nutritionally complete but cheaper varieties.
DH and I have agreed never to spend more than $25 without consulting eachother, excluding groceries, gas, the normal monthly bills.
I frequent Freecycle(TM), Freecycle(TM), Freecycle(TM)!
If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know.

V - This poor soul is all over the internet on sites for other religions, proclaiming that they're all false and their Bible translations are false. He has the sympathies of hundreds of people, saddened by how badly he's deluded. He spends hours talking about the glories of the NWT. He won't answer any questions. He just spews lots of JW trash. Poor man is entirely deluded. Based on what I've seen, he must do this full-time as he is on all kinds of sites.
I remember what the elders used to tell us when we couldn't "win" an argument with someone at the door: "You can't argue with a closed mind." Bible Steve has the most closed mind of all. Don't waste your breath debating him. Your videos are first rate.

The floodgates have opened
by B_Deserter ini posted elsewhere that i decided to contact a non-witness friend i cut ties with because she spoke ill of the society.
well, through her i was contacted by another former jw friend of mine.
turns out, we both thought we hated the other person, but turns out it wasn't true on either side.

I need some friends
by jonie ini have such a difficult time living a double life, i dont hate going to meetings and seeing the friends i just know it is not real and i dont like being there.
but since i can not get my husband (who is also inactive) to just leave for good we go back from time to time.. my older son really hates it all his friends from the hall are either in jail or in a gang it was difficult to keep him in the truth because of seeing so many of his friends doing badly.
i finally allowed him to just have worldly friends and he is fine, in fact some of the jws would ask if their children could come over and spend time with my son and we were not even active.. i know i can never go back to the jws, i realize it is false but i also know that we all need to keep praying to god and i believe that god is jehovah, some people just need to do it in a building and need to belong to a place where people treat them like they are some body.

So Far...
by WTWizard ini have yet to see my waste of paper show up in the mail.
last year, i got my waste of paper along with a card telling me that they miss me, and that they would like to see me make the crapmorial.
of course, i saw right through them--they missed what they could get out of me, not me.

They showed up at my door today with an invite for the woman who used to live here. I told them she moved away and they left without inviting me! Do I have a big ol' scarlet "A" hanging around my neck?
