My JW best friend is bringing a 'heavy' around to my house to talk some sense into me.
by Julia Orwell ini agreed, if only because i want to see my friend of many years.
the 'heavy' is a large, imposing man with a booming voice and is a creature of the gb through and thru (eg only visited his dfd dad on his death bed because it was a 'good witness' to the hospital staff) and i'm feeling stressed about seeing him.
i so badly wanted to see my friend though, i agreed without thinking and now wish i hadn't have.

I agree, you can't argue with a zealot. But you never know what seeds you might be planting in his little brain.

payback? bitterly upset....
by losingit ini don't even know where to start.. more than anything, i'd like to say that i am not a woman of vengeance.
i am very much a forgiving person.
if you say "i'm sorry," and you're genuine, i can move on from it quickly and easily.

I agree with some others here that getting reinstated and taking the children to the K-Hole is sending the children the message that the Jehovah's Witnesses are alright. They are not alright and their religion is not alright. It will not matter re: custody. If you have a negative file that's been following you around, the elders would probably side with your husband anyway. You don't have to talk against the cult, just don't expose them to it. Like the others have said, be a model mother and do nothing vindictive.
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. You should consider counseling for yourself in part because of the cult but you may want to consider family counseling for you and the kids to help them cope with the separation and divorce.

If i were in your shoes, I'd be looking for some cheesecake. But if you are going to talk to your friend again, in all seriousness buy a book by Jason Everts called Answering Jehovah's Witnesses. It is in question and answer form and will really stump him and make him think.

Satanus, I've already been supplementing with flaxseed oil for years because it helps with my chronic dry eye. Not sure if I'm taking enough to affect the inflammation though.

Berengeria, you're right, I shouldn't let the kids have junk food but rather whole grains. One of my kids is a carnivore anyway, except for cheese crackers. He won't eat mac & cheese or noodles of any kind.
Exercise is another part of the "StAnn is gonna get healthy" commitment.
BTW, this diet is heavy on the vegetables and medium on the fruit. I'll have to see how much fruit my diabetes can tolerate. And you're allowed to "cheat" three times a week and add in brown rice or sweet potatoes or some other such carb addition.
If only fried green tomatoes were healthy, it would be the perfect diet!

Oh, honey, I'm so sorry for your ordeal. Drink some warm tea and listen to some soft music to calm yourself down. And so far as your friend is concerned, why did he have to bring around a second person anyway if not to be a witness to what you said? He could have come himself. Some friend.
Tell your friend about the Fellowship of Catholic Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses and see how he likes that.

My JW Experiences and Living in No Mans Land
by wizzstick inlots of proper pioneering (90 hours), lots of calls, lots of studies, lots of interest.
enough to make it all interesting.
driving this buzz was the sense that armageddon was imminent.. my father was never a jw, and was very opposed.

I'm with AnnOMaly. You've just scratched the surface. I do think you should read the webpage with the history of the Bible Students. You will find it eye opening re: the WTS. http://www.internationalbiblestudents.com/history.html

God will forgive me....apparently
by punkofnice ini left the jws and went to a baptist church which was far better than anything i'd known before having been born into the dangerous cult of the watchtower corporation.. having travelled a path of spirituallity i have concluded that there is no god evident to me.
evolution?
i have no idea...i just live my life knowing that when i die there is nothing after it.

Punk, so sorry for your distress. God/Bible is a tough topic and it takes time to sort it all out.
Re: Jesus existance, all I can say is that the historian Josephus mentions Jesus in his writings. Non-biblical.
The issue with Jesus is, is he really who he said he was? If not, he was a nut. If true, he was God with us. A big issue and one the WTS knows nothing about.
Re: forgiveness, if you're a Christian you believe that Jesus died for all of us, believers or not, and all of us are sinners. So Christian teaching is that Jesus died for you, too, and if you have a sincere heart, your sins will be forgiven. Doesn't matter if you're Christian or Muslim or Hindu, Jesus died for everybody's sins.

Not to put you down but a lot of what you still believe can't be backed up. If you really do believe what you say you do, you should look into the Bible Students. They left the Society after Rutherford took over and began changing what Russell taught. They still follow Russell's teachings, which you have just espoused.
